Chapter 5 It’s Spotless
At 11:00 p.m.
In Kilig Bar, Southdale.
The dance floor was packed, illuminated by colorful neon lights in the vibrant bar.
Having been here with Synthia for a while, Nicole was a bit drunk.
“This is so unfair!” Her face flamed red as she smashed the glass onto the floor. “Babe, you’re so pretty and outstanding. And that jerk actually cheated on you?”
The glass shattered.
Thankfully, no one heard because of the huge noise.
“Yeah, yeah. It’s so unfair,” Synthia echoed helplessly and fed her some water. “It’s late. I’ll take you back, OK?”
She really hoped Nicole could lower her voice a little–being cheated. on wasn’t exactly something to be proud of.
“No! I wanna party! You got a divorce. So what? I’ll set you up with someone!” Nicole grabbed Synthia’s hand and nodded hard. “Are you into pretty boys? Or hunks? I… will call all of them over so that you can have your pick. Tell me which one of them you like, and I’ll get a room for you tonight!”
Synthia felt speechless.

She figured she had handled the divorce well. Did she seem so desperate and horny to Nicole?
“Coco, you’ve had too much…”
She helped Nicole up and wanted to leave. Just then, two yellow- haired punks walked toward them while whistling.
“You’re pretty, aren’t you?” One of them leered at Synthia, licking his lips. “Drink with us, will you? We’re rich. As long as you and your friend please us, you can have whatever you want. Otherwise…”
They exchanged glances and grinned lewdly.
Synthia frowned.
They were in a bar.
It might be noisy here, but certain rules did apply. Security guards would immediately come over as long as she shouted.
“Give up already,” the punk said, looking smug as if he had already seen her through. “The security guards around here have all been sent away. No one dares to come near us without my order.”
Synthia thought, “Is this just an accident? Or is someone behind it?
“If it’s intentional, who’s their target? Me or Coco?
“My money’s on Coco.
“I spent almost every day in the Raymond’s villa over the past three years and didn’t cross anyone.
“But it doesn’t matter.

“Whoever messes with Coco messes with me.
“Oh, really?” She carefully put Nicole down. “What if I say no?”
Nicole was a top streamer. Worried that someone might recognize her and take photos of her, Synthia tugged her baseball cap low to conceal her face.
“No? That’s even better. We’re in for a treat today! Ms. Aguirre is so nice to us. They’re so pretty…” the punk said with a grin.
In the next second, his buddy next to him slapped him hard and spat, “Are you stupid or what? Shut it!”
Ms. Aguirre?
Synthia silently repeated the name to herself and took out her phone, wanting to text Kyra and have Kyra find out who that was. Just then, one of the punks strode forward and tried to snatch her phone away.
But someone stopped him before he could do so.
In the next second, he wailed out in pain miserably. “It hurts! Let go! Who the fuck are you? Let go of me!”
Synthia looked up, only to see Darion’s icy face.
She parted her lips but didn’t know what to say.
She thought, “What are the odds?
“I never saw him during our three years of marriage. Now that we’re divorced, I keep running into him everywhere?
“Just my luck!”
“Mr. Raymond? What are you doing here?” She quickly came back to her senses and frowned. “Are you following me?”
Darion didn’t reply. He waved his hand and had someone take the punks away.
“Why can’t I be here?” He wiped his hands with a handkerchief and then tossed it away. “Have you been drinking?”
They were close enough for him to smell the alcohol on her.
Synthia didn’t drink.
As a doctor, she had never drunk, but reeking of alcohol seemed inevitable since she had been in here for hours.
However, she wasn’t planning on explaining anything.
She sneered, “That’s none of your business. Don’t you think, Mr. Raymond?”
“What does he care if I’ve been drinking or not? What the heck is wrong with him?” she pondered.
Darion glanced at her. “Dr. Duffy, I have no interest in your personal life. I’m just a bit curious–this is how you behave as a doctor? Can you really hold a scalpel steadily?”
Synthia thought, “I knew it.
“Darion dislikes me. Why would he give a damn about my personal life?
“He’s just worried that I’m not up to performing on his unforgettable love if I spend too much time drinking.”

“Mr. Raymond, how I behave or whether I can perform or not is my concern. It doesn’t concern you. Just mind your own business. If you’re really skeptical of my medical skills, feel free to replace me at any time,” she said coldly. “Besides, if I remember correctly, I haven’t said yes to perform.”
The word “sharp–tongued” emerged in Darion’s mind at once.
And once again, he sensed hostility from Synthia.
Her hostility toward him was even more obvious this time.
She hated him.
But why?
He was slightly confused but didn’t dwell on it. To him, the most important thing was to have her agree to perform. He admitted that he had crossed a line tonight, interfering with her personal life. So what if she partied and drank every night? He had no right to say anything as long as the operation wasn’t affected.
He said, “Consider your condition agreed. I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning. Dr. Duffy, I hope you keep your word.”
The surgery must happen as quickly as possible.
Synthia was annoyed by Darion’s words, but he had helped her today, and she owed him one.
She thought, “Fine. I’ll perform on his lover to repay him. After that, I’ll never see this jerk again.”
“Alright.” She walked over to Nicole. “I will, as long as you play by the hospital’s rules.”

Just then, Nicole suddenly sprang to her feet. Her movement was so quick that the cap on her face fell to the floor.
Synthia bent over quickly to pick up the cap, but someone beat her to
- it.
A hand with slender fingers picked the cap up and put it back on Nicole’s head.
“Mr. Raymond, are these your friends?” Eugene happened to come out to greet Darion. He asked this as his gaze lingered on Nicole’s face for a few seconds.
Eugene was smiling.
Though his eyes were devoid of any warmth.
Before Darion could answer, Synthia said, “No.”
With that, she left while supporting Nicole.
“Let’s go, Mr. Raymond,” Eugene averted his gaze and said, lowering his voice. “Mr. Lutz has been waiting for you upstairs for a long time.”
Darion nodded. “Alright.”
He was already back in Greystone Heights when Eugene called, saying Rylan was waiting for him at Kilig Bar. That was why he went out again. To his surprise, he ran into Synthia here.
He didn’t dwell on it and strode upstairs.
While walking, Eugene added, “One more thing, Mr. Raymond–Mr. Lutz said he had had people dig into Dr. Duffy’s background. It’s spotless.”
