Chapter 2 First Encounter
In the CEO’s Office, DR Group.
Kaiden walked into the office and handed Darion a file bag.
He reported, “Mr. Raymond, Ms. Duffy has signed the divorce agreement and given me copies of her ID photo for the paperwork. Your divorce will be finalized within a month.”
Darion was reviewing files. Upon hearing this, he looked up and glanced at the file bag.
He was surprised that Synthia had agreed so readily.
years
He had left with Joslyn after marrying Synthia. During their three of marriage, he had never seen her, who was sensible enough not to bother him.
“One more thing, Mr. Raymond.” Kaiden took out another file bag. “She didn’t accept the property deed and the card.‘
Darion was surprised again.
He thought, “Does she really not want them? Or … she’s playing hard to get?”
Meanwhile, Kaiden continued, “And Tianna called me, saying Ms. Duffy has already moved out. She took only her belongings with her and left all the jewelry there.”
Tianna was a maid working at the Raymond’s villa. At this, Darion was certain it was the second possibility.

He heard that Synthia came from a small town. Maybe she got carried away after spending those three years in the Raymond’s villa and falsely thought of herself as the hostess.
“Give her an extra 1.5 million dollars.” He tapped the file bag. “Handle this personally.”
Kaiden nodded. “Yes, Mr. Raymond.”
After Kaiden left, Darion continued to read the files. He signed them and took a sip of the coffee, and then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw the divorce agreement as well as two passport–sized photos clipped
to it.
The photos were placed face–down, and he realized he had never seen. her.
For some reason that even he couldn’t explain, he put down the coffee and picked up the file bag. Opening it, he was about to flip over the photos when his phone on the desk rang.
It was Rylan Lutz, his friend.
He answered the phone.
“Darion, I’ve got a new lead on Alice, the exclusive disciple of Dr. Becker.” After a pause, Rylan continued, “I’ve sent you her file.”
Darion had been searching for Alice for three years but couldn’t find any trace of her this entire time. Until recently, someone had the word out about her comeback, saying she was in Southdale.
He didn’t believe it at first but still had his people look into it. Even if it was fake news, he had to be sure.
To his surprise, the news seemed to be real.
Chapter 2 Find Encounter
That was why he came back to the country. And while he was at it, he figured he might as well get the divorce done.

In Operating Room 1. Neurosurgery Department, Stratexon Hospital..
Manuel Newman, the Chief of the Neurosurgery Department as well as Stratexon Hospital’s star surgeon, was operating, and many interns gathered in the observation room to learn.
Synthia was present, too.
The surgery wasn’t going smoothly.
Keshawn had already spotted the problem.
However, since the surgery was ongoing, no one could interrupt, or the consequences would be unthinkable.
Suddenly, someone in the operating room exclaimed in horror, “Oh no! The patient is hemorrhaging intracranially and is in cardiac arrest!”
Manuel glanced at the monitor screen, his facial muscles slightly trembling. But he was experienced after all and remained calm. He said sternly, “Calm down! Prep the defibrillator. We’ll start resuscitation now.”
“Yes, Dr. Newman!”
He continued, “Contact the tertiary hospital and get the ambulance ready. We may have to transfer the patient at any time.”
“Alright, Dr. Newman!”
The operating room was in chaos, and those in the observation room.

were anxious.
Amid the commotion, a steady voice rang out. “Given the patient’s condition, transferring her will be too late. A second surgery must be performed right now.”
It was Synthia.
“That’s absurd! We’re in the middle of the first surgery, and you’re actually suggesting a second one? You aren’t taking the patient’s life seriously at all!”
“What do you know? A second surgery is extremely dangerous. Even Dr. Newman wouldn’t dare to suggest so. Who are you? Do you even know what you’re talking about?”
While everyone was pointing fingers at Synthia, Keshawn frowned.
He thought, “Synthia’s suggestion is indeed inappropriate. The patient is in critical condition, and Dr. Newman obviously can’t handle it. Transferring the patient is the only possible way to save her life.”
He turned around and barked, “Enough! Dr. Mullins, do as Dr. Newman said. Call Dr. Hebert at Sanovita Hospital right now and have him take over.”
Wilber Mullins, a doctor present, immediately said, “Alright. I’m on it.”
In the next second, however, Synthia shook her head. “Dr. Hebert can’t do this. He’s not good enough.”
The scene immediately fell dead silent.
“What the heck is wrong with you? Dr. Hebert is the only expert in town who’s attended the International Neurosurgical Experts Conference. And you’re saying he’s not good enough? Who are? You?

Go ahead and feel free to take over then!”
Ignoring the mockery, Synthia turned to Keshawn. “Mr. Bonilla, there’s no time. Let me operate. I’m the patient’s only hope.”
It was the only way.
Keshawn hesitated.
Looking at her, he mused, “The risks of a second surgery are extremely high. You know very well what will happen if it fails. Are you sure about this?”
If she didn’t step in, it’d have nothing to do with her.
But if she did and failed, she’d take full responsibility.
Synthia nodded. “I know not getting involved is the smart thing to do, but I’m a doctor, and I can never do nothing while needed.”
Though she said so, the gravity of a second surgery was not to be underestimated.
Keshawn was torn. However, the operating room was already chaotic, and the patient was in an extremely critical condition. It would be impossible to transfer her.
Exhaling, Keshawn nodded. “Alright. Go and get prepared while I go talk to the family.”
Changing surgeons during the operation would require the family’s consent. Otherwise, no one could shoulder the responsibility.
However, to be on the safe side, Keshawn still had someone invite Bryan Hebert, the director of Sanovita Hospital, over here.
But the family wouldn’t agree.
There were a dozen of them, and they blocked the door, not allowing Synthia to enter.
The patient’s husband roared with red eyes. “Is she even an adult yet? Are you trying to kill my wife? You actually want her to operate on my wife? Not gonna happen!”
“That’s right! We won’t agree! If she’s dead, I’ll sue your asses!”
“Get ready to be exposed online! You don’t take patients‘ lives seriously at all!”
They were all worked up.
Synthia said calmly, “If I don’t get in there any sooner, she’ll die within five minutes. Let me in. If anything happens, I’ll take full
responsibility.”
The family all looked at her as if she were crazy.
“Stop saying nonsense! We want Dr. Newman! You have no moral ethics at all and even cursed my wife! I’ll sue you!”
The patient’s husband raised his hand and was about to slap Synthia out of anger.
But he didn’t get to.
His wrist was gripped by a hand with slender fingers.
He was stunned.
So was Synthia.
Dieter 2 Pest Encounter
A tall, slender man was looking at the patient’s husband coldly.
Sensing the man’s threatening presence, the patient’s husband hung his head instinctively.
“W–Who are you? Why did you stop me? Maybe you’re her friend, given you defend her so much. Someone! Come here! Me and my family are being bullied by a vile doctor and her friend!
“Everyone! Come here!”
Darion frowned, his gaze glacial. “Have you heard of DR Group in Southdale? I’m Darion Raymond, the CEO. I’ll vouch for her and take any responsibility if things go down.”
DR Group? Darion Raymond?
While Synthia was in shock, someone hurled a water bottle at her.
