“Shut up. Whatever happens between Gracie and me is none of your damn business.“)
Giselle stood frozen, her hand covering her cheek, eyes wide with disbelief and horror. Tears immediately welled up and rolled down her face.
“You hit me?” she whispered. “You hit me for Gracie? You said you loved only me! You said you’d cherish me like no one else ever would!“} Her voice cracked, rising in pitch as she clutched her stomach, her emotions unraveling.
“Say something! Do you not love me anymore? Not even our baby matters to you now? I was willing to marry you, but you just had to drag her back into our lives. She wants a divorce, so let her go! Why can’t I be the one you marry?“}]
Frederick said nothing. He didn’t even glance at Giselle.
Instead, his eyes were fixed on me, filled with guilt and confusion.
“Gracie… are you okay? I didn’t mean to push you.“}
He didn’t understand why his heart was pounding so erratically. Since losing his memory, he felt incomplete–like something vital had gone missing.”
Now, seeing me hurt, his chest ached with a sharp, unfamiliar pain.
But I didn’t need his sympathy.
I slapped his reaching hand away.”
“Frederick, save your fake concern. If you really care about me, sign the damn divorc
papers.”

Frustrated, he pulled his hand back and said nothing. He stood there silently, ignoring Giselle’s sobs echoing down the corridor.
Azrael took me to the hospital while Frederick followed us quietly. Giselle stormed off back to the hotel, fuming.§
Thankfully, the injury on my forehead wasn’t serious. After a quick treatment, the doctor assured me it wouldn’t scar.
But the older wound on my face–where the scab had already fallen off–would leave a visible mark unless I opted for cosmetic repair. While I was getting bandaged, Frederick stood by the door, watching silently.
Then his phone rang.!!
From the look on his face, I knew exactly who it was–Giselle.
I didn’t know what she said, but his expression soured. He hung up abruptly and walked over to me, trying to appear remorseful. “Gracie had an emergency. I need to go take care of it, but I’ll come back later.”}
I looked at him, and intoned coldly, “That won’t be necessary, Frederick. I don’t need you. Don’t you understand that?“@

His expression faltered, as if wounded, but he didn’t argue. He stood there for a moment, conflicted, before quietly walking away.”
After my treatment, Azrael brought me back to the apartment.”
His eyes were gentle as he looked at me, full of worry and compassion.
“Gracie, I never imagined you were living like this,” he said softly. “I always thought Frederick treated you well. Back in college, everyone thought you two were the perfect couple. No one would’ve believed it could end like this.”}
He was right.
Back then, Frederick hadn’t lost his memory. Giselle and I were close friends. I even brought her along on some of our dates.}
They always acted normal–nothing ever seemed suspicious. I had no reason to doubt their loyalty.
But now I couldn’t help but wonder, maybe Frederick didn’t start having feelings for Giselle after his amnesia.}
Maybe it started long before that.
The thought kept me up all night.
Haunted by insomnia and anger, I grabbed my phone early the next morning and made a call.
I dialed Giselle’s number.
