Chapter 26%
In the end, Chase was beaten within an inch of his life by Weston.
To make sure he stayed away, Weston even assigned more bodyguards to guard the Redmond family, leaving Chase no chance of ever getting close to Rosalie again.
But Chase didn’t give up.
He stayed in Ireland, lingering like a shadow, just to catch one more glimpse of her.
Then, one day, a call shattered the silence.
His old assistant’s voice trembled over the line, “Young Master, you have to come back now! Your parents, both of them, have been thrown in jail… by your sister!”
“If you don’t come back to take charge, they might rot behind bars!“}
After Hollis Corporation crumbled and its people scattered like dust, the only one still loyal was this former assistant, still calling him “Young Master” as if nothing had changed.”
Fury exploded in Chase’s chest.
“That heartless snake, Isla! Hasn’t she done enough? Destroying the company wasn’t enough for her; now she’s driving our parents to their graves, too?! Why won’t she just drop dead?!“}
The assistant hesitated, then explained, “Your parents couldn’t accept the downfall. They kept confronting her, trying to take everything back. In return… she dug up all their past crimes and handed the evidence to the court.“}
“Hollis Corporation was never clean in the beginning. And now, with your parents powerless… the dirt she exposed is enough to bury them.”
“Young Master, you must come back.“}
Heavy rain came crashing down from the sky. People scattered for shelter, their umbrellas flipping in the wind, but Chase stood alone in the downpour.
In this country, there was no place left for him.
It would be nearly impossible to see Rosalie again.}
And even if he did, what could he offer her now? A ruined name? A life of hardship for her and the child?>
He had once held the world in his hands. Now, he had nothing.
“It was Isla!” a voice roared in his mind like thunder.
“She didn’t just destroy the Hollis family. She tore apart every chance I had with Rosalie!“}
“If she hadn’t set Rosalie up over and over again… if she hadn’t twisted everything and turned me against her, none of this would’ve happened! Rosalie and I… we never would’ve ended like this!”
Chase clenched his fists, rain sliding down his face like silent rage.}
“So that’s how dirty you play, Isla? Fine. Let’s see who breaks first, you or me.”
He returned to the country.
And just as expected, Isla had been waiting.”
She lounged lazily on a yacht, draped in silk and bathed in golden light, watching the sunrise with a smile as if the world was hers to rule.
Swirling a glass of red wine, she smiled lazily and said, “Brother Chase, there’s no need to beg. I never wanted to throw those two old geezers into prison, either. Dragging Hollis Corporation through the mud doesn’t do me any favors. But they made the first move; they wanted me gone. So I simply beat them to it.“}
“And the things I reported? They were real crimes. If they landed in prison, it was only what they deserved. But Brother Chase, are you really not going to consider me?“}
“Last time I kept you locked up, and you escaped, just to go crawling after Rosalie? I heard she turned you away. Let her new man rough you up? Rosalie doesn’t want you anymore, but I do. Stay with me. Be my lover. I’ve always been willing. Hollis Corporation is dead. If you want to rise again, maybe I’m the only one who can help you. Don’t you think so, brother?“}
With that, she offered him her glass of wine. Unlike last time, when Chase had turned her down without hesitation, this time, he took the glass.2
He curled his lips into a faint, unreadable smile. “Sure.”
Isla believed she had finally broken him and that he had no cards left to play.
So when she reached for his hand and whispered, “Brother Chase…” she didn’t suspect a thing.”
But in the very next moment, Chase clutched her wrist with a deadly grip.
And without warning, he dragged her with him as he leaped into the sea.
“Isla, go to hell with me!”
