She wore a faded army–green cotton jacket that cost less than a hundred yuan, and thick cotton pants. Dressed like that, she stood out sharply inside Ocean City’s top luxury mall.
But Windy didn’t care. She casually walked into a store and started browsing.
“Welcome.”
The sales associate’s eyes flickered with a trace of surprise at her shabby clothes.
Still, she smiled warmly and treated her respectfully.
Service work really tested a person’s patience and character.
Her hair was tied into a high ponytail, revealing a delicate, pale face and a pair of clear, piercing eyes that radiated a cold brilliance.
The sales associate couldn’t help admiring her looks, but also felt sorry that a girl this beautiful hadn’t been born into a better family.
The associate enthusiastically approached her. “This piece you’re looking at is a great choice. We’re having a sale right now, and these items are discounted. This one would really complement your complexion. It’s usually 9,999 yuan, but right now it’s only 6,666.”
Windy’s gaze swept across the racks of discounted items. She asked, “What other pieces are on sale?”
The associate immediately understood what kind of customer she was dealing with. Someone who looked this good shouldn’t be stuck in cheap clothes.
Even their discounted pieces were still excellent quality.
She had already shown her the cheapest ones. Judging from her outfit, the girl probably couldn’t afford anything more expensive.
She quickly led Windy to the front row. “Besides the ones I showed you earlier, this entire rack is discounted. Some pieces are limited sizes.”
The associate paused for a second, glanced at Windy’s figure, then smiled again. “But with your figure, you’ll fit into anything. A slightly larger size would actually make your shape stand out even more and it’ll be more comfortable too.”
Windy didn’t mind the associate’s enthusiasm.
–
Maybe it was because it had been so long since she heard such a genuinely kind voice.
She actually found herself enjoying it a little.
Windy lifted her hand and pointed. “Other than the pink and green pieces, wrap up everything else.”
Then she added, “Size S.”
The associate froze for a few seconds.
Did I hear that right?
—
She quickly recovered and asked again to be sure. “Just to confirm you mean you want all the new arrivals, except for the pink and green ones?”
“Yes.”
Windy handed her a bank card.

The associate immediately realized how wrong she had been. Her hands trembled with excitement.
“Of course, of ourse. I’ll pack everything right away. Please, have a seat in the VIP lounge.
Inside, she was screaming with joy. Her eyes almost disappeared from how hard she was smiling.
Today must be my lucky day!
Other sales associates and customers turned to look.
Everyone was stunned by this unexpected wealthy customer.
She was dressed in less than a hundred yuan worth of clothes, her cotton pants visibly pilled nothing.
Maybe this is what they mean by low–key wealth.
Five associates rushed over to help pack, terrified that this VIP might get impatient.
A rich young lady like this shouldn’t stay low–profile.
—
yet she spent like it was
Windy stood up and glanced around. There were still a few clothes on the racks that hadn’t been packed.
She pointed at a pale–colored top and a lemon–yellow coat. “Take those down. I want to wear them now.”
Every girl loved to dress beautifully.
Beautiful bags, pretty jewelry, dressing herself up the way she liked.
Windy was no different.
In the past, for the sake of her family, she had worn clothes she hated
Even if she loved light colors, she never dared wear them at home.
Elsa and Quinn hated seeing her in light–colored clothes.
To please them, she had always worn dull, aging styles.
One time, she wore a dress she loved to Elsa’s birthday party.
That night, she caught the venomous looks from Quinn and Elsa.
Quinn asked her if she was doing it on purpose
Was she trying to humiliate her sister on purpose?

colors and styles she couldn’t stand.
if she was trying to steal the spotlight on her sister’s birthday.
It was just a simple dress, a discounted one at that. She never understood how it could be seen as stealing the spotlight.
She tried to explain, but Quinn slapped her twice in front of everyone.
When she wore frumpy clothes that made her look much older, they would praise her behaved.
She had believed for years that Quinn’s sharp, critical eye was a form of love.
No mother could possibly hate her own child… right?
But she had been wrong.
There really were mothers in this world who didn’t love their own children.

say she was obedient, so well-
Elsa always dressed beautifully, like a princess in pink, while she stood next to her like a lowly servant.

Chapter 27 A Reunion at the Steakhouse
Chapter 2 A Reunion at the Steakhouse
She wore no makeup, not even moisturizer.
The fine texture of her skin was clear enough that every pore could be seen.
With her high–level features paired with an elegant coat, her whole aura seemed to rise by hundreds of levels.
In the sales associate’s eyes, she was even more beautiful than any TV star.
The associate couldn’t help exclaiming, “Wow, you’re stunning! This outfit looks like it was tailor–made for you. I don’t think anyone else could wear it half as well.”
Although they said such praises to every customer, this time, she genuinely meant it.
Windy’s cold, detached aura warned others to keep their distance. No matter how much they praised her, her aloofness didn’t
waver.
Windy looked at herself in the mirror
This is good.
She smiled softly at herself.

so alive.
Besides revenge, isn’t living her own life just as important?
Wearing her new clothes, she paid and left the mall.
As for the rest of her new purchases, she left an address for the staff to deliver them later.
After an afternoon of walking around, her stomach felt empty. She remembered the steakhouse she used to love.
Luckily, it wasn’t far from the mall – just a twenty–minute walk.
She found a window seat and sat down. It wasn’t yet dinner time, so the restaurant wasn’t crowded.
She cherished this rare peaceful moment. If she had a book right now, she could sit here all day.
On the other side-
Elsa, just done shopping and carrying a luxury handbag, walked into the steakhouse with a few friends.
Yvonne’s eyes swept the restaurant and landed on the window seat.
“Damn, we’re late. That’s my favorite seat. I always sit there.”
Elsa followed Yvonne’s gaze.
Her smile froze on her face.
“Elsa, what’s wrong?” asked Anna, who was linking arms with her, noticing the sudden change in her expression.
“Who’s that?” Yvonne quickly caught on and pointed toward the young girl by the window.
Elsa’s gaze wavered, and tears shimmered in her eyes.
She grabbed both girls‘ arms and lowered her voice, choking up.
“I….I don’t want steak anymore…
At that moment, a smiling waiter came over.
