I went home.
My brother was busy, so my sister–in–law took me on a vacation and bought me things.
I started to feel better.
I almost forgot about Liam until he came to
my house.
I saw him outside with gifts.
I still felt a pang of pain.
“Ever since your brother cut off Liam’s suppliers, Bethany’s been trying to talk to him about discounts. She knows she’s a woman,
so she doesn’t come here. Your brother never lets her see him. Now, Liam’s company is
probably in trouble. Do you want me to let
him in?”
My sister–in–law noticed the look in my eyes.
I shook my head. “My brother isn’t extreme. If
Liam can bring him more profit, he’ll choose
く
him. Otherwise, why would he?”
She nodded.
“Your brother’s worried about you.”
“I’m fine. He hasn’t even called me since I
signed the divorce agreement. He doesn’t
care about me, so why should I care about
him? He can do whatever he wants.”
“Okay.”
She got rid of Liam.
But he came back the next day with more
gifts.
He put in a lot of effort.
く
He came every day for a week. He’d wait
even if he couldn’t see my brother.
If he wanted to get back together, I might
have let him in.
But he just wanted a business deal.
My sister–in–law called my brother and told
him to handle Liam.
He contacted Liam’s company and told him
why he wasn’t the best option.
Liam understood.
He didn’t wait at my house anymore.
But I still ran into him.
My brother’s company had a product launch party and invited a lot of business tycoons.
I went to see what was happening.
My sister–in–law told me to dress up, but I
wore casual clothes.
I was going to eat and go home.
Then, someone pushed me and I spilled my
soda on a woman.
I started apologizing.
“Is Mrs. Lewis’s dress expensive? It’ll cost a
lot to pay for it, right?”
I turned around and saw Bethany in a red
レ
She’s gotten even more annoying.
“Sorry, Mrs. Lewis, how much is the dress? I’ll
pay you.”
Mrs. Lewis was wiping the dress when
Bethany interrupted.
“That’s a limited edition dress. It costs
hundreds of thousands, can you afford it?”
Mrs. Lewis frowned and pulled me behind her.
“I’m not blind. You pushed her, that’s why she spilled the soda. I didn’t say Scarlett had to pay me. Why are you getting involved?”
Everyone stared at us.
Bethany didn’t expect to dig herself a hole.
I stood on the side and scoffed. Bethany
thought I was just some poor nobody, but Mrs. Lewis was my sister–in–law’s friend.
Mrs. Lewis wouldn’t help Bethany.
Bethany swallowed. “I was just saying hi, I didn’t push her…”
Mrs. Lewis scoffed, “I know you pushed her. I also know that you’re with a bankrupt man and don’t have a lot of money.”
Bethany gritted her teeth and teared up.
