11.Chapter 11
Julius couldn’t help getting suspicious.
Laura was indeed adorable, but based on his understanding of his good buddy, Bowen was no saint who would help the weak.
Now, Bowen had helped the girl to bed. Moreover, that girl happened to be Cameron’s fiancée.
If there was nothing fishy going on here, he’d be willing to bet his life on it–not buying it for a second!
“Alright, you know what you are doing.” Julius patted Bowen’s shoulder helplessly, ignoring the latter’s disgusted look and asking seriously, “In three days, Laura will be engaged to your nephew. What if nothing unexpected happened during this period?” Bowen didn’t respond and simply got up to leave. “Since she’s already my woman and agreed to marry me, there’s no way she’ll marry Cameron.”
Watching Bowen leave, Julius scratched his head irritably.
He trusted that whatever Bowen decided to do would be foolproof. But this time…..
Although he hadn’t interacted much with Laura over these five years, he knew she’d been like a shadow behind Cameron and treated his every word as gospel.
Having cherished someone so deeply, yet seeing them hurt you so much for another woman–if he were Laura, he would certainly lose all hope for Cameron.
‘Still, besides what happened last night between them, could it be possible that Laura’s agreeing to marry Bowen is partly about getting back at Cameron using Bowen’s influence?‘ Julius wondered.
In the suite, Laura intended to relax her anxious mood when facing Bowen, but as she Jay down, she actually dozed off.
When she opened her eyes again, the curtains had been drawn shut somewhen. The fading sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting a golden glow into the
room.
“You are up?” A deep and calm voice echoed beside her ear.
Laura abruptly shifted her gaze from the window to the source of the sound, only to find herself locking eyes with Bowen, who was seated on the sofa.
abroly
“Uncle Bowen?” Laura sat up abre successfully unlocked! from her slumber. “Why are you
here?”
“Sleeping too much made you fuzzy?” Bowen chuckled, stood up, and walked over to sit by the bed.

“You came to me not long ago, said you wanted to marry me, then cried yourself tired and I had to bring you here to rest. Forgot all that?”
After briefly recounting what happened earlier, Bowen couldn’t help but reach out to smooth down the little tuft of hair that had stuck up on her head from sleeping.
But no matter how he pressed it down, that stubborn little tuft just wouldn’t stay flat.
Despite the cute look of Laura with her disheveled hair and dazed expression, Bowen’s OCD kicked in, sparking an inexplicable competitive urge over that tuft of hair.
Just as Laura recalled what happened earlier from Bowen’s words, she felt a big hand. gently brush through her hair.
With his movement, the familiar scent of cedar and the cold fragrance from his body instantly enveloped her.
“Uncle Bowen, I… I didn’t forget,” Laura replied, her face burning red as she moved slightly away.
Bowen retracted his hand nonchalantly, a fleeting dark shadow in his eyes. “Your hair was sticking up just now.”
“Thanks,” Laura chuckled awkwardly, trying to change the subject. “How long have you been here? Didn’t I hold you up from work?”
“No, I just got here not long ago. Figured you’d be waking up soon, so I waited for a bit,” Bowen lied smoothly, having been staring unblinkingly at Laura’s sleeping face for
over three hours.
“It’s already half–past six. Hungry?” he asked.
Just waking up and not feeling hungry at all, Laura couldn’t help complaining inwardly that Bowen was treating her like a pig that ate and slept all day.
