Chapter 7
The divorce papers arrived quickly–Tyler didn’t dare challenge Xavier’s anger. These days, I’ve been immersed in the joy of having a family. My parents rushed
over and held me, crying for a long time, unable to bear having me leave their
sight.
Whenever I left, they became anxious, fearing I might disappear again. They brought me everything wonderful the world had to offer.
I never thought about Tyler anymore, but he still wouldn’t stop harassing me— sending messages daily, reminiscing about our past, apologizing, making promises.
I didn’t believe a word of it. My parents and brother asked what I wanted to do about Tyler.

I couldn’t answer this question. I hated Tyler–he hurt me deeply for Sophia’s sake. But in the past, he had given me shelter. Still, I wasn’t a saint.
So I said, “Just don’t let him die. The suffering I experienced–he should go
through it once too.”
During this time, Sophia used every method to see me. My brother initially
disagreed, but couldn’t resist my pleading.
Sophia hated me deeply. I never understood where her hatred came from. She was the one who broke up with Tyler–why did she feel entitled to hurt me when she regretted her decision?
The terminal cancer, wanting to fulfill her youthful dreams–all lies.
She was never sick, and Tyler knew it all along. They enjoyed this madness. Tyler thought he could have both women and, when he tired of the game, return to our family and be my good husband again.
Unfortunately for him, I wasn’t a chess piece to be manipulated.
When I next saw Tyler, he looked completely worn down. The Brooks family’s
pressure had left the Chen company on the verge of collapse.
His father still blamed everything on him, cursing him daily and even beating Mrs. Chen to vent his frustration.
During this time, Tyler suffered terribly.

Seeing me like this, Tyler couldn’t help but beg, “Wendy, can’t you forgive me? I know I was wrong. You were allways the one I loved most.”
“Think about our past. I was just temporarily confused. She was tricking me…’”
But I just stepped back, afraid of any contact with him.
This movement seemed to hurt Tyler. His eyes reddened, but he couldn’t say a
word.
The divorce certificate came quickly. My heart was filled with joy for my new liiffe. Tyler helplessly dropped his hands, watching as Xavier and I left.
After all, he had no power to contend with Xavier.

I was soon brought back to Manhattan by my family. They wanted to make up the suffering of my lost years, bringing everything imaginable to my room. Until one day, I suddenly saw the news: the Chen family had gone bankrupt and people were in trouble.
Tyler’s father had been arrested for embezzlement. The mighty empire had collapsed. Tyler’s mother even called me.
She cried, begging me to show mercy for the sake of my former llove with Tyler.
I didn’t respond and hung up. After all, when they were bullying me, they never spared me despite my obedience.
Tyler also knew the Brooks family would never let him go. He gave up completely, calling and messaging me daily, wanting to meet.
I never replied. His current situation was his own doing, especially since his company’s ultimate downfall came from its rotten foundation.
Later, they moved from their villa to a rental apartment.
Tyler’s mother, once so pampered and attended by servants wherever she went, couldn’t bear this new life.
Sophia took the last bit of money and tried to escape, but Tyler caught her. He locked her in the house, tormenting her daily.
Until one day, Sophia escaped. She reported Tyler, saying he had illegally imprisoned and abused her.

Tyler was imprisoned as she wished. Tyler’s mother nearly died from anger and got into a street fight with Sophia.
Tyler’s mother, pampered for years and already suffering from recent major setbacks, was no match for Sophia.
In the end, she was hospitalized, and Sophia was detained for assault. They all got what they deserved.
Meanwhile, I was pampered like a princess at home, with everything going my
way.
I believe my future will be wonderful.
I’ll never be separated from my family again.
