Chapter 2
I don’t know how long I pounded on the door. When I regained consciousness, I
was being loaded into an ambulance.
A neighbor had heard my faint cries for help, but by then it was too late–my
amniotic fluid had turned to blood, staining my clothes crimson.

At the hospital, the harsh lights made it difficult to open my eyes. I could only vaguely hear the doctor’s stern voice, “Why was she brought in so late? The patient
is hemorrhaging severely. This situation is life–threatening!”
“Where are the patient’s family members? Why is no one here? Leaving an eight- month pregnant wife alone at home–what kind of husband does that? Doesn’t he
know how dangerous this is?!”
The doctor’s words were filled with anger, and my heart grew colder.
How could Tyler not know these risks? He simply cared more about his ex- girlfriend.
A tear slid uncontrollably down my cheek.
Everything hurt so much.
Unable to find my phone, the doctor became anxious. Fortunately, my neighbor had Tyler’s number. The doctor called immediately, “Are you Wendy Lin’s family? She’s hemorrhaging at the hospital and urgently needs surgery…”
Before the doctor could finish, Tyler interrupted, his tone impatient and disgusted, “So you found someone to put on an act? She’s perfectly fine at home–how could anything happen?”
In the background, I could hear the chaotic sounds of people cheering and wedding music.
“Is that Wendy?” Sophia’s voice came through weakly, with a hint of tears. “Wendy, I’m dying. This is my only wish. I’m begging you to lend me Tyler for just one day. I just want one wedding ceremony, and afterwards I’ll never bother you again…” The doctor listened in shock, seemingly unable to believe that while I was hemorrhaging on a hospital bed, my husband was holding a wedding ceremony
with another woman.
Still, he seriously repeated my critical condition, urging Tyler to come to the
hospital

immediately as my life was in danger.
“Wendy, haven’t you caused enough drama? Must you be so unreasonable? If you keep using our baby as an excuse, don’t blame me for getting angry!” Tyler’s voice was filled with fury as he hung up. When the doctor tried calling back, he had
already blocked the number.
Tyler was convinced I was just jealous and putting on an act. He never considered how dangerous it was to leave me locked alone at home.
In his heart, Sophia would always be the most important person. What was I to
him?
My body felt terrifyingly cold. I could feel my life slipping away as my entire body went limp and weak.
“Madam, don’t fall asleep! Quick, the patient is hemorrhaging severely–check the
blood bank!”
“It’s no use the patient has a rare blood type. madam, where is your family? Madam-”
In my haze, I felt warm blood continuously flowing out as my baby was slowly separated from my body.
Family? It’s unfortunate that I’m an orphan, and now I’ve lost my only child. My baby…
Mommy is so sorry.
I thought, maybe if I died, I wouldn’t have to feel this pain anymore.
When I woke again, the world was completely white, so quiet I could hear my own breathing.
I raised my hand, feeling distinct pain.
So, I was still alive.
Looking down at my flat stomach… my baby was gone.
This child I had longed for day and night had ultimately left me, before I could
even see them once.
Just days ago, I could still feel them moving gently inside me.

The pain spread throughout my body, tearing me apart. Why did they let me live? Outside, passing nurses spoke with pity in their voices, “Rich wives don’t have it easy either. Her husband was holding a wedding with another woman while she
was hemorrhaging in the hospital.”
“Right? I heard this lady is an orphan, so she isn’t respected in her husband’s
family.”
“Keep your voice down, someone might hear.”
The voices gradually faded away, but my tears fell like broken strings of pearls.
The man who once vowed to love me forever had become the one who hurt me
the most deeply.
