As he was escorted away, Chloe called out from behind:
“Do you regret it? Do you regret leaving Zoe to be with me?”
She was still betting on being chosen. After all, Jack had been so resolute when he left me for her.
Jack paused in his steps.
He turned back, asking in disbelief:
“What do you think, Rose? If you were me, would you regret it?”
Chloe watched Jack Leave, then looked at me with more resentment:
You must be very pleased? After all this, he still came back to you.”
I was utterly confused:
“Is he some kind of treasure that 1, Zoe, would want to pick up after someone else?”
‘Chloe, just because you value something doesn’t mean everyone else thinks it’s good. Someone who can be easily taken away is like chewed gum of a used reg–worthless.”
