Chapter 4
My gaze fixed on his confident face, hardly believing my eyes.
“No need. Aren’t you afraid of Elliot’s retaliation?” I finally couldn’t help but ask.
“Don’t worry about me. I’ll figure something out,” he said with determination.
Perhaps due to my lack of confidence, or maybe because I didn’t want to involve someone who showed me kindness, I chose to refuse.
He paused, then lowered his head and chuckled softly.
I looked at him puzzled, not understanding what he found amusing.
“I’m being serious. While Elliot may not be among the top elite in Senala City, his influence still extends throughout the entire city,” I tried to make him understand the gravity of the situation. “If you help me now, even if he doesn’t know immediately, what if he retaliates against you later? Just leave me alone and take care of yourself.”
Now he realized I was serious.
So he calmed down and asked, “Do you think I’m joking?”
I pressed my lips together, not answering immediately.
Another alternative.
