Chapter 1
How much did my husband Edwin Gore love me in the past?
In order to marry me back then, he proposed ninety–nine times, just for the sake of proposing.
Until the hundredth time, I was finally moved by his perseverance and became the enviable Mrs.
Gore.
On the day of our wedding, I gave Edwin ninety–nine Forgiveness Passes, promising that as long as these passes were not used up, I would always be by his side.
Married for five years, every time he went out to accompany his crush, he would use a Forgiveness
Pass.
When Edwin used the 97th Forgiveness Pass, he suddenly noticed that I had changed.

I no longer cried or begged him to stay. I only quietly asked him, when he lost his mind because of his secretary Lena Mason, “If you go to be with her, can I use a Forgiveness Pass?”
Edwin hesitated for a moment and uncommonly softened his heart, saying, “Alright, anyway, I only used over sixty of them, so if you want to use them, go ahead.”
I nodded and let Edwin go.
Originally, he didn’t know that this was the 97th Forgiveness Pass he had used.
And we only had two Forgiveness Passes left.
Married for five years, Edwin and I never had any children.
Today, Edwin’s company, the Gore Group, celebrated the successful acquisition of the project.
It was also the ninth day that Edwin and I had agreed to prepare for pregnancy together.
When Lena accidentally knocked over the champagne tower, spilling the drink all over Carlos, her business partner.
Edwin’s first reaction was indeed to shield the person behind him.
Without hesitation, he instructed me, “Ashlee Owen, apologize.”
I was stunned for a moment, unable to believe it.
Carlos also frowned and angrily pointed at Lena, saying, “Mr. Gore, it was her mistake, I just want her to apologize.”

Lena’s eyes turned red, and she tugged at Edwin’s sleeve in a plea for help, as if she had suffered a great injustice.
Edwin gently patted her hand and then, regardless, looked at me, saying, “What are you standing there for? Quickly toast to Carlos.”
“One cup is not enough, two cups are not enough, three cups are necessary to calm Carlos down.”
Edwin forgot that we were trying to conceive.
Or perhaps, he simply didn’t care.
The people around couldn’t help but whisper to each other, their eyes filled with disdain as they
looked at me.
Everyone knew it wasn’t my fault.
Everyone could see that Edwin was determined to protect Lena.
I had intended to refuse, but Edwin, as if he had anticipated it, made a gesture with his mouth at me.
Forgiveness Pass.
In order to marry me, Edwin proposed to me 99 times, and I also rejected him 99 times.
I thought he would give up, but on the 100th time, Edwin called all my family and friends and swore in public, “Ashlee, I have only chosen you in my whole life. If you don’t agree, I will continue to
plead until you agree to marry me.”
I was moved by his steadfast love and agreed.
In order to repay his love for me, on the night of our wedding, I specially ordered 99 Forgiveness
Passes.
We had agreed that as long as these Forgiveness Passes were not used up, we would never separate.
In the first three years, Edwin cherished them so much that he didn’t use a single one.
Until Lena appeared, in just two years, he had used 96 of them.
Now, it is the 97th.
Holding the wine glass, my fingers slightly turned pale, I forced a smile as I walked up to Carlos.
“Carlos, I respected you.”
Carlos sighed and told me to just take a sip.

But I still smiled and finished the whole glass of red wine.
I happened to catch a glimpse of Edwin dotingly scratching Lena’s nose, his voice gentle: “Don’t run so fast next time, what if you get hurt?”
Lena grabbed his hand, with a smile in her eyes, and said, “I knew it, you were really good to me.”
Yeah, I was really good to you.
I was choked by the drink I had swallowed, which irritated my throat and made my eyes sting
It’s okay.
I said to myself.
Anyway, there were only two left.
