At that moment, Lisa’s call came in
Cyril took a deep breath, trying to tamp down the anger boiling inside him, then answered, “Yeah!”
“Cyril, have you seen the trending news! How could Trina do this? You two were married for three years, even if you’re divorced now! How could the stir up this kind of public drama!” Lisa’s voice was full of concern
“What are you trying to say?” Cyril’s tone was flat, indifferent.
Lisa hesitated, her voice shaky, like she was on the verge of tears. “Can you get someone to take down the post!”
Cyril spoke with a calmness that took every ounce of patience he had left. Is what’s in that post true?”
“Cyril, listen, 1-”
He cut her off. “Forget the explanation for now. Just answer the question is it true or not?”
Silence hung on the other end of the line. Cyril lit a cigarette and took a long drag before saying “Lisa, just be straight with me. If you tell the truth now, I’ll let it go. But if you lie to me, I swear I’m done with you. Think carefully.
Something had shifted in Cyril’s tone–cold, distant–and it made Lisa’s stomach twist with fear.
This was the second time she felt like he was pulling away, warning her. And both times, it was because of Trina.
Lisa wrestled with what to do. If she admitted it she knew her chances of marrying Cyril would vanish. But if she lied, and Cyril found out later. she might not even get the chance to explain herself.
As she wavered, Cyril’s voice, low and tired, broke the silence. “Lisa, since we met, have I ever wronged you!”
She silently shook her head, knowing the answer was no “So this is my last chance.
Clenching her teeth, she decided to take the risk. “It’s true.” she finally admited.

“Cyril” Lisa panicked, fearing that Cyril who usually dooed on her was going to back out this time.
Just as she was frantically worried, Cyril finally spoke. “Since it’s true, why take down the trending post?”
Lisa racked her brain to start making excuses for herself. “It’s not like that Let me explain. I was indeed sick at that time, which you knew.
“But I realized during my illness how much you cared about me and valued me. I became greedy. I wanted you to stay by my side longer and keep me company, so I foolishly resorted to this strategy”
Cyril felt a chill in his chet and laughed coldly. “Because of your moment of folly. Trina had to give blood for you for three years?” He paused before continuing. “Do you know what three years mean!”
Lisa’s voice trembled as she cried, “I know I was wrong. You can blame me all you want, but please quickly find someone to take down the trending post. If it stays up any longer, it doesn’t matter if I suffer insalts, but your reputation and the company’s will only get worse.”
She needed to navigate high society in the future. With Cyril’s ability and influence, people wouldn’t really bother him, at most teasing him for his romantic escapades.
But for Lisa, without any real foundation, she relied entirely on Cyril’s protection or the “Toving” image she crafted to maintain her standing in their
circle.
If the trending topic caused a huge scandal, she couldn’t face the public afterward.
However, Cyril crushed her last shred of hope. “Lisa, being elever is fine, but you need to know when to quit. My promise to Vernon still stands, but if you keep pushing. I’m not cleaning up your shit anymore”
Vernon Marshall had been Cyril’s friend.
