Chapter 4
Trins couldn’t help but find the whole situation laughable, Cyril’s belief that she couldn’t survive without a man was absolutely ridiculous
“Don’t worry, Mr. Banks,” she said with a cool, mocking smile. Her eyes gleamed with a hint of sarcasm. “That day’s never coming”
Cyril’s jaw tightened, anger flashing in his eyes. “Fine. Tomorrow, AM. Al court. He there,” he snapped through gritted teeth.
Trina glanced at her watch, already thinking about the million things she had to do. “It’s getting late. You two planning to buy anything or just wasting time! If not, I’m closing up shop. She had prenatal vitamins to pick up and needed to focus on her health.
Lisa’s eyes lit up as she spotted a ring in the display case. “I’d like to try this one on she said, pointing at a massive Almonde diamond. She looked at Cyril, waiting for his approval
Trina’s eyes lingered on the ring. She had designed that matching set back when she and Cyril were still together.
They never even made it to an engagement, let alone a wedding. She had handed the design to the shop and put the rings on display. Now, seeing it here felt like a punch to the gut–a sharp reminder of everything that fell apart.
“That ring won’t fit you,” Trina said bluntly. “Your fingers are too thick.”
Lisa looked at her hand, realizing Trina was right. But that didn’t stop her from wanting what she wanted. She turned to Cyril, smiling coyly and clinging to his arm. “Cyril, I really love this ring, she purred.
“If you want it, we’ll get it,” Cyril said, his eyes still locked on Trina. His voice dropped to a low, commanding growl as he turned back to Trina. “Name your price
Trina’s lips curved into a mocking smile. “Sorry, not for sale. She was not about to let Lisa get her hands on the ring, no matter how much money Cyril was willing to pay.
The thought of selling her creation to the conniving Lisa made her skin crawl. It would be an insult
her
to all her hard work and dedication.
Lisa’s face flushed with anger. “You-“she sputtered, glaring at Trina. Fury surged inside her as she realized Trina was once again standing in her
Trina’s patience was wearing thin. “You two need to leave. You’re hindering our business.
But Lisa was not ready to give up yet. “Ms. Reid, I don’t understand why you’re being so hostile.”
She then turned to Cyril with a wounded expression playing the victim. “Cyril, I just adore this ring. Even if it doesn’t fit, Id treasure it always”
Cyril’s handsome face hardened as he stared coldly at Trina. “Then we’ll buy the entire store. You can have any ring you want,” he said, trying to intimidate her.
Lisa’s eyes gleamed with urished tears. “Oh Cyril you’re always so good to me.”
Trina watched Cyril dose qn this two–faced woman, a bitter taste in her month. She had doce attributed his coldness to his nature, but now she understood – Jus warmth and passion were reserved for Lisa alone.
Cyril made a quick phone call while Lisa shot Trina a triumphant look, but Trina ignored them both, focusing on polishing the jewelry in the display case
“Trina,” Lisa said snugly, “if you apologize now, I might let you keep working here. After all, your customer service leaves much to be desired” But before she could say more, Cyril’s phone rang, and his assistan’s voice came through clearly
“Mr. Banks, this store is owned by Gross Group,” the assistant said. “They refuse to sell You know the Gross family are old money, the richest family in the city. We can’t afford to make enemies of them if we want to expand in Maction”
Cyril’s expression hardened, his knuckles whitening around the phone.
Lisa’s smug smile faded as the reality hit her. Turned out there was something even the mighty Cyril couldn’t deal with, and the Gross family was a lot more powerful than she’d thought
A Cyril hung up, his jaw clenched in barely controlled fury. Trina couldn’t help but smirk at the sight. “Oh, Mr. Banks” she said with a smile, “Next time, you might want to think twice before making empty threats. Wouldn’t want you to bite off more than you can chew.”
Cyril’s face darkened dangerously, his lips pressed into a thin line. He was seething with anger.
Tired of the drama, Trina snapped her fingers, and a group of burly security guards showed up, their faces grim.
“Get the hell out of here, now!” they shouted, storming up to Cyril and Lisa and demanding they leave.
