Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Chelsea’s Point of View
I felt myself shake as Kai was successfully able to pull his mother away from me, my legs gave out, the moment she disengaged from me. I crawled away from the ravaging woman before me.

I didn’t even have the time to be embarrassed or to think about the crowd that had gathered, I just wanted to be away from her.
“How dare you show your face again?” the woman growled, her chest heaving dangerously as she glared at me. It was probably the shock but I was unable to move, I felt my knees rooted on the spot.
“After you nearly killed my son, are you here to finish the job?” She yelled at the top of her voice, Kai’s eyes were narrowed as he did all he could to restrain her.
Even though she seemed petite, her body was coursing with an undeniable amount of energy.
The only thing I was focused on was breathing, I had already run out of breath, my trembling hands clutching the front of my dress tightly, trying to hide my breasts.
“Kai did you employ this woman, knowing who she is, or did you lose some part of your brain after that fall?” she turned towards her son. “How can you do such a thing?”
“I have every right to employ whoever I want. Even as my mother you don’t have any right to barge into my company and assault a staff without any given reason!” He yelled at the woman, and her eyes widened in disbelief.
Some of the security personnel Kai had sent for rushed towards them.
“Boss!” As if announcing their presence they chanted.
“Take her out,” Kai ordered as he handed his mother to the security, she tried to fight them, but they didn’t give her the privilege. “Why didn’t anyone do anything before it escalated? Are you supposed to just sit around and watch? The security personnel was just outside why didn’t you call them!?”
“Pardon us, boss.” One of the ladies in the reception started. “It all happened so suddenly, and the madam is Mrs. Hezron.”
“I don’t care whoever it is, anyone who disrupts my place of work will be removed forcibly.” He yelled again. “Do you understand me?”
“Yes, boss.” They all yelled.
He turned his gaze towards me… understand.
I don’t know why, but there was a certain softness in his eyes, one that I didn’t quite
He took off his coat and neared me, wrapping it around me, he helped me from the floor and walked me outside the building.
I simply followed him without any argument.
“Are you with your things?” He asked and I shook my head, he simply nodded and walked me to the car. “Wait for me here, i will go and bring your things.”
For a minute I wanted to ask him why he was helping me, his mother was only trying to get back at me for what I did to her son. I didn’t understand his intentions, didn’t he hate me?
I had expected he would simply stay there and watch his mother rip out ever strand of my hair from my head. I nodded again and he jogged back in the direction we both came from. I felt thick liquid stream from my nose, and the red drops fell to my hands.

Shit! She roughed me up real bad. I wiped my blood with the back of my hands, my other hand trying to find tissue in his
car.
The only thing I felt was excruciating pain and a sudden mind numbness,
“Here…” I heard Kai’s voice as he came back running towards me, he handed me the phone and my purse. “I will take you to my house.”
I didn’t even have the will to argue with him, I simply nodded at him again.
He got into the driver’s seat and ignited the engine.
“Are you okay?” He asked as he drove out of the parking lot. I didn’t know why he was asking, I wasn’t sure if I deserved that much concern from him.
He already did his best as my boss, he even did pass expectation.
I didn’t even know what to say to him.
“I don’t know why she came here, she’s not supposed to ever come.” Kai narrated as his hands clutched the steering wheel even tighter.
His expression was unreadable.
“I’m sorry.”
“You’re not supposed to apologize to me,” I answered glancing at him. “This is nothing. And I believe that I deserve this much.”
He remained silent as he listened to me.
“I pushed you from the top of the stairs. You were unconscious and you nearly died. You were in a coma and unstable. If I was your mother I would do the same thing to me.” I explained. “You didn’t have to remove and embarrass her like that.”
“So, what this victim mindset you suddenly adopted?” He wondered with a mocking scoff. “You claimed you didn’t push me, so why are you admitting to it now?”
“Didn’t you want revenge from me?” I queried cocking an eyebrow at him. “You could have just settled and enjoyed the show instead of trying to play the heroic boss.”
“Of course, I want revenge and I will get it.” He gritted through clenched teeth. “I will get my revenge in my own way, I don’t need my mother butting in and ruining my plans.”
“That’s a bit ungrateful coming from you,” I said with a small frown on my face. “You should see your mother on the day of the herring, she was so scared you were going to die. And whatever she did today is justifiable. I bear her no grudge.”
“If you think this sudden attitude will make me pity you or forgive you, then you are highly mistaken.” he mocked. “There is no need for you to wallow in self–pity, I will give you something to worry about.”
“One month…” I suddenly blurted, wiping the tears from the edge of my eyes before they could fall. “I will work with you for one month, so I can pay back the money you spent on my rent. After that please let me quit.”
“No.” He answered gruffly. “I’m the one who calls the shots. I am the one who will tell you when it’s over. So, do yours” favor and just forget about quitting.”
I felt my breath falter and a sob unintentionally escaped my lips.
“That’s better…” he murmured. “Cry. I have been dying to hear you cry.”
