Chapter 50
Just as our figures intertwined, on the verge of a successful pairing, a harpoon with a hooked tip shot out, piercing. straight through the python’s head.
My desire had yet to dissipate and I could only stare blankly as the male python, without even a chance to struggle. It lost its life completely and sank into the depths of the sea.
Behind me came a loud “splash” as someone plunged into the water.”
Before I could react, I was pulled into a warm embrace.
Victor’s arms tightened around me as if he wanted to fuse me into his very bones. “Eve, just a little more… Just a little more and I would have lost you forever!“&

Feeling something cold drip onto my neck, I lifted my gaze, only to see Victor’s bloodshot eyes spilling tear after tear, falling one by one.”
“It’s my fault. I should never have sent you to Snake Island.“}
He held me tightly. “I was such a fool. I knew you were afraid of snakes, yet I still made the decision on my own to send you there. At the time, I was blinded by anger. I thought Snake Island was a paradise away from the world, that sending you there would help you cultivate your mind and also serve as a small punishment.”
Even though I had not uttered a single word, Victor continued to ramble on, talking to himself.”
“There were so many snakes there, you must have been traumatized. Otherwise, how could you ever have taken interest in such a filthy, wretched old man?“}
“You were just too scared and I wasn’t there for you. Seeking security and belonging, you ended up being deceived by that snake catcher. And through intense psychological suggestion, you started to see yourself as a snake too.“}
Listening to Victor’s words, my parents collapsed on the deck, holding their heads and sobbing.”
“Eve, we’re sorry. It’s our fault for coming too late. If we hadn’t been so careless and had checked on you sooner, maybe you wouldn’t have ended up like this.“8
“Eve, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.” Victor choked on his words. “I don’t care about what happened to you in the past. From now on, no matter where you go, I will be with you.”
“Please, don’t give up. Please forgive me. You are my wife and for the rest of my life, I will never leave you. Eve, please give me another chance to protect you, okay?”
Hearing Victor’s deep and heartfelt confession, Clara could no longer bear it.
She forced out a strained smile and grabbed a life ring, tossing it into the sea. “Victor, the water is freezing and who knows if there are still snakes down there. Whatever it is, you should bring my sister back on board first before talking.”
My parents hurriedly pushed through the crowd and stood by the ladder, waiting for me.”
“Eve, come to Dad and Mom,” they called out, their voices filled with anticipation.”
But faced with their enthusiasm, I remained wary, my eyes filled with vigilance.
Seeing my hesitation, my parents‘ eyes filled with hurt and tears streamed down their faces. “Eve, we’re your parents. Do you not recognize us, or are you blaming us in your heart?”
I pressed my lips together and said nothing.”
Victor held me in his arms and reassured them, “Dad, Mom, please don’t rush. Eve just jumped into the sea and was entangled by a python. She must be terrified. Let me take her to clean up first and we can talk once she’s feeling better.”
The large bathtub was filled with warm water.
Victor held me gently and stepped in one careful step at a time. But the moment my skin touched the hot water, discomfort spread through my entire body.”
So I instinctively wrapped myself around his waist, unwilling to go deeper into the water.”
“Be good, Eve. A hot bath will help you relax,” Victor coaxed me gently.”
But I was already well–versed in the ways of men and instantly caught the restraint and desire in his tone. In response, I released my pheromones, signaling my willingness to serve him.”
Victor’s body suddenly tensed. His hands gripped my shoulders tightly, his dark eyes locked onto mine.”
“Eve, why… why are your eyes turning into… green vertical pupils?”
Through the reflection in his deep, dark eyes, I saw my own, eerily seductive like a snake’s.
Fragments of memory suddenly flashed through my mind–chaotic and scattered, yet just clear enough to piece
together.”
That day was Victor’s birthday. I had gone to great lengths to coax the snake catcher into a good mood, just to get my hands on a phone.
3:44 PM
I secretly dialed Victor’s number, hoping he would come and save me.”
But after enduring so many inhumane days, I was terrified that he would find me disgusting. I didn’t even know where to begin.
“Victor, happy birthday.“N
I stammered out the first sentence, but before I could say more, Victor interrupted impatiently.”
