The office was a mess. Vanessa had brought a group of thugs and was sitting in James’s office, legs crossed, waiting for him.

“You finally decided to show your face?” Vanessa said expressionlessly as James walked in.
James stared at Vanessa with disgust.
This scene felt familiar. Back when I first opened my shop, I was treated the same way. Back then, James had stood firm, protecting me.
“You dare to call off the wedding, humiliating me in front of all those people, after I found you the cornea donor.” Vanessa’s words sounded righteous, and if I hadn’t been the actual donor, I might have been fooled.
James let out a cold laugh and pulled out my medical records, throwing them in Vanessa’s face.
“Say that again. You found my cornea donor?”
Vanessa, who had been so confident before, turned pale upon seeing my medical records.
There were too many onlookers, so James quickly had everyone sent away, leaving only him and Vanessa in the office.
“Honey, listen to me. I didn’t mean to deceive you. I just love you so much, I was afraid no one would be by your side after you recovered,” Vanessa suddenly fell to the ground.
It seemed James had never doubted Vanessa from the beginning. He had been misunderstanding me all along.
Misunderstanding that I had abandoned him, misunderstanding that I was heartless.
Now that the misunderstanding was cleared up, I felt no satisfaction, only pity for James.
“Love me? Is this how you show your love?” James said as he pulled out a stack of photos from his bag and threw them in Vanessa’s face.
Photos scattered all over the floor, clearly showing Vanessa entering and leaving hotels with different men.
Vanessa’s face turned ashen. She didn’t even have the courage to pick up the photos. Instead, she grabbed James’s pant leg.
“Let me explain…”
Before Vanessa could finish, James slapped her across the face.
“Stop disgusting me, will you?”
James looked at Vanessa coldly.
I recognized this look. It was the same look James had whenever he mentioned my name.
Vanessa held her swollen cheek and suddenly stood up, laughing coldly.
“You think your precious Lily was any better? Can you guarantee she never cheated on you when you were together?”
Vanessa was wrong. When I was with James, I never even thought about anyone else.
“Don’t assume everyone is as despicable as you. Lily never wronged me.”
“If I remember correctly, weren’t you the one who spoke ill of Lily?
Weren’t you the one who tore down your flower shop?
Weren’t you the one who had her mother beaten?
What right do you have to call me despicable?”
I watched James grow silent, his fists clenched tightly, his eyes becoming dull.
“You’re right, I have no right to judge her. But you have even less right.”
James gritted his teeth, his gaze turning vicious as he looked at Vanessa.

“You keep saying you love me, but you just wanted to use my name to restructure your family’s business. I’ve already handed over evidence of your company’s tax evasion to the authorities.”
Seeing James’s calm demeanor, I was shocked.
In four years, James had really grown up. He was no longer the cry–baby he used to be.
Vanessa lunged forward and grabbed James’s throat.
“You bastard, how dare you?”
James stared at Vanessa expressionlessly, even as his face turned red from lack of air.
“You can kill me if you want. We’ll just join Lily in death!”
