Chapter 24
Zachary walked slowly along the streets of the town, with the evening sun casting its last rays on him, creating a long shadow
On both sides of the street were low houses, and the air was filled with the aroma of food. In the distance, the sound of horse hooves could be heard. Zachary looked up and saw a little girl riding a small horse, swaying as she ran towards him.
Suddenly, the little girl’s horse got scared, lifting its front hooves abruptly. The little girl screamed in fear, losing her balance, and it looked like she was about to fall off the horse. Zachary instinctively rushed over and grabbed the little girl, and they both fell heavily to the ground.
The little girl turned pale with fear, tears swirling in her eyes. Zachary, disregarding his own pain, quickly checked her injuries and asked, “Are you olory?”
The little girl shook her head, her voice tinged with a hint of tears, “Thank you. Why did you risk your life to save me?”
Zachary posed for a moment, his gaze falling upon the little girl’s face. Between her eyebrows and eyes, there was a resemblance to Silvia when she was
young
His eyes softened, and he said softly, “Because you looked a lot like my beloved when we were young.
The little
girl blinked her eyes and asked curiously, “Are you here to get married in Flodino? I heard that many people come here to take wedding photos.”
Zachary’s lips slightly curled up, and he did not deny, “Yeah“.
The little girl’s face it up with a bright smile, saying, “Then I wish you happiness!”
A hint of tenderness flashed in Zachary’s eyes as he softly said, “Will be happy,”
The next morning, Trey knocked on Zachary’s door, only to find it empty.
His heart sank suddenly, and he hurriedly rushed out of the hotel, searching everywhere for Zachary’s figure. Eventually, he found Zachary by the seaside
Zachary stood on the pier, his gaze fixed on the distant sea, his expression calm enough to make one audious. They approached, his voice Linged with urgency, “Mr. Aldrich, we should go back now.”
Zachary turned his head, glanced at him, and said lightly, “You go buy some souvenirs first, I’ll be back in a while.”
Trey hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he nodded and said, “Alright, don’t take too long ”
Alter Trey left, Zachary’s gaze once again fell upon the sea
He took out a note from his pocket, gently placed it on the ground, and then swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills before slowly closing his eyes.
When Trey came back with the souvenir, the pier was already crowded with people.
His heart sank suddenly as he rushed into the crowd, only to see Zachary’s lifeless body. In his hand, he tightly clenched a note that read
“We got married in the end, just like a sea burial. Joyful mourning, it’s also good”
Trey’s vision went black, and he could barely stand steady
He trembled as he picked up the note, tears blurring his vision.
In the distance, the enormous silhouette of a whale slapped against the surface of the sea, and a long whale song resounded once again, as if welcoming a new soul.
The next day, Trey knelt beside Zachary, his fingers trembling as he gently touched his cold cheek
His voice was so hoarse that it was almost inaudible, “Mr. Aldrich you and Ms. Winston, finally got together.”
He lifted his head and looked at the mortician, his voice tinged with determination, “Please give him a sea burial.. It was his last wish.”
The mortician nodded, his expression solemn
Trey stood aside, watching as the mortician cremated Zachary’s body according to the ritual, and then took the ashes on a boar to the sea where Silvia’s bones were located.
Trey’s tears silently slid down as his gaze fell upon the distant ses, as if he saw the figures of Zachary and Silvia standing side by side. There was a faint smile on their faces, as if they had finally found liberation.
“Mr. Aldrich, Ms. Winston. you could finally be together forever.”
Trey’s voice was so soft that it was almost inaudible, yet it carried an endless sadness and resignation.
In the distance, the sound of whales resounded again, as if bidding farewell to this couple.

Marvin Evans was well–known in the circle as a doting bushand.
For me, he rejected a family–arranged marriage and cherished me consistently for three years.
At his bachelor party before our wedding, his former crush asked, “If I eloped, would you come with me?”
He, however, earnestly replied, “Yes”
I held back my tears and sent a message to my wealthy friend.
“Can you pick me up and take me away from here as soon as possible?”
My best friend arrived seven minutes later, and the wheels were almost sparking.
“I have told you long ago, with your appearance and personality, you should have married into a wealthy family and enjoyed a life of luxury! My brother and my father are both handsome. You should have chosen one!
The wedding date was approaching, and Marvin’s childhood friend organized a bachelor party for him.
His close friends knew that Marvin doted on me.
If I hadn’t gone with him, he would have returned home before ten o’clock, regardless of whether others had a good time or not.
So they also warmly invited me.
As soon as I entered, I felt that something was not quite right with the atmosphere.
Everyone warmly greeted me, but secretly exchanged glances with Marvin.
I was confused
When everyone was seated, a short–haired girl arrived late
“Sorry, there was a traffic jam on the way, so I arrived late!”
The girl was tall and thin, with a clear and Invely voice.
Marvin froze instantly.
That was the fi
first time that had seen his obsessive expression
The girl warmly extended her hand to me and said, “You must be the bride–to–be, Nice to meet you. My name is Zoe Perrz!”
As soon as I heard this name, I instantly understood everything.
This was the person Marvin had liked for five years.
It was said that back then, Marvin was not as steady as he is now. He pursued her relentlessly, arranging ten thousand roses downstairs and showing a splendid firework display on the beach for her.
He
He was her throughout his entire youth.
But three years ago, she decisively pursued another boy and went abroad to study.

At that party, Marvin walked towards me through the hazy lights.
I had clearly only drunk half a glass of wine, but I got drunk like a dog and hurriedly asked my friends for information about him.
