Chapter 40 Stay Away From My Mom!
“So what?” Vivienne stared straight at Lillian. “Ms. Lillian, did I push you or not?”
Lillian’s eyes brimmed with tears. “Ms. Everest, let’s not talk about this in front of the child.”
The way she said it, as if she were enduring great humiliation for the sake of the kids.

Victor seemed to have realized something and turned to Theo. “Theo, you just said you saw her push Lillian, right?”
Theo’s small face was tense. “Yes, I saw it. She pushed Ms. Lillian.”
Victor looked like he had caught a weak spot and pointed at Vivienne. “Eddy, Theo wouldn’t lie!”
Edmund’s cold gaze landed on Vivienne. “Vivienne, did you really push Lillian?”
Vivienne had no interest in explaining, but she also wasn’t about to let someone dump false accusations on her. “I didn’t push her. She fell by accident.”
“Then why did she fall down the stairs?”
Vivienne replied indifferently, “How would I know why she fell? You should be asking her, not me.”
Edmund didn’t say anything. His jet–black eyes stayed fixed on her, his face revealing no emotion, but the air around him dropped a few degrees.
Clearly, he still had doubts. After all, no one just falls down the stairs for no reason.
In the suffocating atmosphere, Theo’s face showed a hint of unease.
But Vivienne neither avoided nor backed down, meeting Edmund’s gaze fearlessly. Her eyes were bright and steady, with no sign of guilt.
Lillian hurriedly said, “Eddy, let’s just drop this…”
“We can’t just drop it!” Victor interrupted. “This vile woman needs to be taught a lesson, or who knows what else she might do!”
Vivienne crossed her arms. “Ms. Lillian, aren’t you going to tell everyone how exactly you fell down the stairs?”
Lillian’s eyes flickered, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something but held back.
Vivienne glanced at her pretentious act and said flatly, “Since this has nothing to do with me, I’ll be leaving
now.”
Victor blocked the doorway. “You’re not leaving until Lillian gets justice!”
Vivienne sneered. “I said I didn’t push her, and Ms. Lillian never said I did. Yet somehow, everyone else insists that I must have done it.”
Victor suddenly realized that Vivienne had changed. She had become sharp–tongued, leaving him at a disadvantage every time.
He turned anxiously to Lillian. “Lillian, just tell everyone already! Was it Vivienne who pushed »

Vivienne was right. If Lillian didn’t say it herself, no matter what others claimed, it wouldn’t matter.
After all, Lillian was the one who fell.
Lillian cursed Victor in her mind, What an idiot.
At this point, if she kept hesitating, people would start to suspect her.
She took a deep breath, just about to speak when there was a knock on the hospital room door.
A moment later, two figures–one tall, one small–walked in.
“Ms. Everest, are you okay?” The moment August saw her, he ran straight into her arms.
Vivienne hugged him, a trace of guilt flashing in her eyes. “I’m sorry, I haven’t been taking good care of you.”
She had promised Dante that she would look after August.
But trouble kept finding her, and she hadn’t been able to do much at all.
August, though young, was understanding. “Ms. Everest, you’ve already taken great care of me…”
Before he could finish, a voice filled with hostility suddenly rang out. “Why are you with my mom?” August looked up and saw Theo staring at him, his eyes burning with anger.
“Theo?” August blinked in surprise. “What are you doing here?”
Theo ignored the question and suddenly lunged forward, shoving August out of Vivienne’s arms in fury.
“Get away from her! Stay away from my mom!”
August, caught off guard, tumbled to the floor.
Vivienne’s expression changed instantly. She rushed to help him up. “August, are you okay?”
August’s eyes turned red, tears welling up. “Ms. Everest, it hurts…”
Vivienne quickly examined him and noticed the raw scrape on his arm. Her heart clenched with worry. “August, let’s get that cleaned up and put some medicine on…”
Before she could finish, another angry voice cut in.
“Mom, why are you being so nice to him? Why did you let him hug you?”
“Mom?” August turned his head in confusion. “Are you talking about Ms. Everest? But isn’t that lady over there your mom?”
