Chapter 13
The moment Jovany dragged his suitcase out of the airport, a cold wind hit his face.
She instinctively shrunk her neck and tightened the scarf a little more.
Galwica’s winter was always bone–chillingly cold, while Centronia’s winter, although cold as well,
carried a hint of moist tenderness.
She lifted her head and scammed the crowd of people waiting to pick her up, quickly spotting that familiar figure.
Kamren stood not far away, dressed in a black coat that accentuated his tall and slender figure.
He held a pink doll hot water bag in his hand, which contrasted sharply with his usual cold and stern
demeanor.
Jovany’s heart warmed up and she walked over quickly. Kamren saw her and a smile appeared on
his face as he approached.
She threw herself into his arms, her voice carrying a hint of coquetry, “Brother, didn’t I say it was too cold for you to come and pick me up?”
Kamren rubbed her hair and said gently, “But I wanted to come.”
Jovany didn’t speak anymore, he just held onto him tightly.
She knew that Kamren always doted on her, from childhood to adulthood. Whatever she wanted, he would always find a way to give it to her. Even if she was capricious, even if she was stubborn, het
never got angry with her.
Kamren took her suitcase and walked with her towards the parking lot.
After getting on the car, he bent down to fasten her seatbelt, bringing the two of them very close
together.
Jovany smelled a faint woody scent, which was the fragrance of Kamren’s usual perfume.
She lifted her head and met his eyes directly. In that moment, she froze.
In Kamren’s eyes, there seemed to be a hint of emotion she had never seen before. It wasn’t the gaze of a brother looking at his sister, but rather… with affection.
Jovany was startled by his own thoughts and quickly lowered his head, muttering to himself, “It must be because I haven’t seen my brother in a long time, how could I think like this? It’s clearly just brotherly doting on his sister.”

But Kamren didn’t leave immediately. His fingers lightly brushed against her cheek, his voice low, “What’s wrong? Your face is so red, are you feeling cold?”
Jovany stammered, “N–n–nothing… nothing.”
Kamren smiled and handed her the hot water bag, saying, “Here, warm your hands.”
Jovany took the hot water bag and felt the warm sensation on her fingertips, which warmed her heart as well. She looked down at the pink doll–shaped hot water bag and couldn’t help but smile, “Brother, why did you still buy such a cute thing?”
Kamren didn’t answer, but a smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he started the car.
On the wa
way, Kamren asked her about her life in Galwiea over the years. Jovany answered one by one, in a relaxed tone, “My roommates were great when I was in college, and my bosses have be
great
the since I started working. I even choreographed a few dances and would love to show you if I get
chance.”
Kamren nodded, with a hint of curiosity in his tone, “And what about your boyfriend? How old was he? What did he do? How did you two meet? And why did you break up?”
Jovany was taken aback and didn’t expect Kamren to ask in such detail. She lowered her head and unconsciously rubbed the hot water bottle with her fingers. “Brother, you didn’t used to ask these things before.”
Kamren’s voice remained gentle, but with a hint of unwavering determination, he asked, “Did I ask
before, and did you tell me?”

Jovany fell silent. She knew that Kamren was worried about her. But she couldn’t utter Gauge’s name, nor let him know about the unbearable past. It was all over, and she didn’t want Kamren to
worry.
So, she made up a story, “I met him at a friend’s gathering, he was three years older than me,
me, and he was a… a designer. We got along well at the beginning, he treated me nicely, giving me small gifts, accompanying me to go shopping and watch movies, that’s why I didn’t come back for three years. But later on, we had some differences in our beliefs. He wanted to settle down, get married and have children early, and live a plain life. But I still wanted to strive in dance for a few more years. We argued about this many times, and gradually, our feelings faded. In the end, we both felt. that continuing like this was not good for each other, so we broke up amicably.”
Kamren didn’t say anything, but just glanced at her through the rearview mirror, with a hint of curiosity
in his eyes
