“And for a pathetic excuse of a woman like her,” she screamed, her gaze twisting into a malevolent sneer as she angled her head to smile at Leona, the gesture dripping with malice.

“You think you’re strong, but your actions are those of a weak person, desperate for love and attention,” Leo said, her voice firm and steady, as she stepped forward from behind me, cutting through the tension like a knife.
Willy, sensing the gravity of the situation, remained still, her eyes fixed on Alenia with a confused expression, as if trying to understand the complexities of the adult world.
She seemed oblivious to the danger, her innocence unmoving to the toxic emotions swirling around her. Alenia’s gaze flickered, her eyes narrowing as she absorbed Leo’s words, her face
twisting into rage.
“What do you know about being strong?” Alenia snarled, as she took a step closer to Leo, her eyes
blazing with contempt.
“You’re just a housewife bitch, living off his money, enjoying the comforts he provides, while I’ve had to fight for every scrap of dignity I’ve ever had only for him to use and throw me away,” she exploded, her words dripping with venom, as if she wanted to poison Leo with her words.
“At least I don’t have to go on my knees for a married man to love me,” Leo replied, her voice cold and detached, like a scalpel slicing through the air, as she stood her ground, her eyes locked on
Alenia’s.
I recognized the calculated calmness in her tone, the subtle hint of distraction, as she carefully wove a web of words to divert Alenia’s attention. I knew she was trying to buy time, to give Willy the chance to secretly call for help, her eyes flicking briefly to our daughter, who stood frozen, her hand instinctively reaching for the phone hidden in her pocket.
Willy’s safety was our top priority, and we had ensured she always carried a phone with her, especially after the accident. But Alenia, consumed by her own rage, remained oblivious to the subtle dynamics at play.
“So let’s make this easier,” Alenia sneered, as she took a step closer, her eyes glinting with a
sinister intent.
Once again, I moved to shield Leo and Willy, my arms wrapping around them like a protective barrier, as if I could absorb the danger that was closing in around us. My heart raced with thundering beats, my mind racing with desperate thoughts of escape, as Alenia’s gaze roamed over us with a cold calculation, her finger still poised on the trigger, the gun’s muzzle yawning like a big black wolf, ready to swallow us.
The enclosing of my regret was suffocating me, as I gazed at my family, huddled together in terror, their lives threatened because of my own selfishness and betrayal. I felt a searing pang of
heartbreak, knowing that my inability to appreciate what I had, my Ingratitude, had led us to this desperate moment.
In this instant, I felt like the true criminal, my actions sparking a chain reaction of pain and fear that now imperiled everything I held dear. The irony was bitter: I had betrayed my family’s trust, and now Alenia was holding them hostage, her finger poised to destroy everything I loved.
“You come with me, and I’ll leave your family alone,” Alenia asserted, her voice laced with a vile confidence, as she swiftly moved to outmaneuver me. In a heart–stopping moment, she tricked me, dodging closer to Leo and pressing the gun to her head, the cold metal glinting against her temple.
My mind froze in terror, my heart racing with a fear so intense, I could fall faint as I stared at the scene in horror. Leo’s eyes, wide with fear, met mine, and I knew I had to act, but my limbs felt heavy, my thoughts muddled by the perplexing dread.
Leo’s body began to tremble uncontrollably, her tears flowing like a river as she shut her eyes tight, as if trying to block out the nightmare unfolding before her. Her hand, still clasping Willy’s, shook wildly, the little girl’s own hands trembling in sync with her mother’s.
Willy’s eyes, wide with fear, remained fixed on me, her tiny face pale, frozen in terror. The sight of my family’s distress was like a dagger to my heart, the pain and helplessness threatening to overwhelm me. Alenia’s grip on the gun remained steady, her finger still on the trigger, as she
reveled in the chaos she had created.
“Keep it down, just fucking keep it down, please!” I yelled.
“Oh God, please, Alenia, don’t…just don’t.” then my voice cracking with desperation, before my
tone shifted to a frantic plea.
Fuck If she accidentally pressed the trigger…no, no, no…I don’t even want to imagine it. My mind was racing with worst–case scenarios, the thought of losing Leo or Willy, or both, too horrific to
contemplate.
I was begging now, my pride and anger forgotten in the face ofind numbing horror, as I tried to reason with Alenia, to reach whatever humanity was left in her, to persuade her to spare my family’s lives. My eyes were fixed on the gun, my heart pounding in my chest, as I waited for her response, my entire world reduced to this single, terrifying moment.
I felt like I was the one at gunpoint, bruised, injured, and beaten to a bloody pulp that would have been infinitely preferable to this nightmare. The thought of Leo, the woman I loved, my wife, being held at gunpoint was a torture beyond anything I could endure.
I would have gladly taken a thousand blows, suffered a thousand agonies, if only it would spare her this brutality. The tremors of my helplessness was throbbing, the fear of losing her, of seeing her harmed, was a burden I couldn’t bear. I would have traded places with her in an instant, would have willingly absorbed every ounce of pain and suffering, If only it would keep my family safe.
