On the day Brent returned to his home country, he met Adeline’s parents who had to travel between various places both domestically and internationally due to work.
When I saw him, he didn’t look good.
“We heard that you and Adele got divorced, what exactly happened?”
Brent had just greeted them and invited them to sit in the living room when someone poured two cups of tea. However, they had no intention of drinking tea at all and went straight to the point to
ask.
Back then, they chose Brent as their son–in–law because the Nolan family and the Wilson family were of similar backgrounds. They didn’t have to worry about Adeline being mistreated by her
in–laws.
But if we have to talk about it the two of them were not compatible.
Brent was indeed ten years older than Adeline, with a significant age gap. However, after much contemplation, they realized that in the world of high society marriages, it was either a marriage of
mutual respect or maintaining a superficial harmony while secretly having numerous affairs.
They were completely focused on their careers, leaving their wives alone to take care of empty
houses.
Neither of these situations was what Adeline’s parents wanted to see, but Brent managed to avoid
both of them.
He was approaching thirty, but there had never been any news of romantic relationships around
him. If it was said that he was immersed in his career, then when he proposed to Adeline, he was
sincere enough to reassure her parents and gain their trust to entrust their daughter to him.
Adeline’s parents never imagined that the last time they left, both Adeline and Brent were doing
well. They had even witnessed the joy in his eyes when they found out Adeline was pregnant. But now, upon hearing the news again, it was that he had run away on their wedding day.
When Madam Nolan first heard this news, she thought she was seeing things, otherwise, how could Brent suddenly have another wedding with Adeline and even elope? Upon closer inspection, she
realized they were talking about Brent and his first love.
They only found out then that Adeline and Brent had divorced.
I had intended to call Adeline first to inquire about the situation, but I discovered that the number had long been out of service.
Most of Adeline’s friends were her friends from when she was studying. She got married right after graduation and lost touch with those friends. And as Adeline’s parents were the ones who prevented

her from playing with those people, naturally they wouldn’t have their contact information either.
This also resulted in Adeline’s parents wanting to see their daughter after she divorced and changed her number, but they found that they had no idea where their daughter was.
The two of them hurriedly returned to the country and found Brent.
Who knew, upon hearing their questions, he turned red first, and besides saying sorry one after another, he couldn’t say anything else.
This action made Adeline’s parents‘ hearts beat rapidly.
“What’s your attitude? Did something happen to Adele?”
Upon hearing their misunderstanding, Brent quickly explained, detailing the causes and consequences of the situation. Adeline’s parents, too, gradually grew solemn as they listened to his
explanation.
As soon as the words fell, with a “smack,” an unanticipated slap landed directly on his face, causing
him to heavily turn his head to the side.
He stood silently in the same spot, without anger or resentment, only a dead silence remained.
“Where is she now?” Sir Nolan’s anger subsided, and he finally remembered to ask about the
whereabouts of his daughter. Brent didn’t hide anything and directly revealed the information. Only after learning where his daughter was currently, did he understand why Adeline had changed her
address and contact information without contacting any of them.
