Book 4- Chapter 1
On the day Adrian Powell’s first love was back, he didn’t ask me and brought her to our house.
When I questioned him, he spoke with a confident tone.
“Allisson unexpectedly became blind, and I promised that I would be her support and had the obligation to take care of her.”
He refused to take a day off when I was sick.
But in order to take care of his first love, he took a two–month leave. Allisson Chapenan tripped over my delivery and accidentally bumped her forehead.
His eyes, filled with pain, turned red, and he coldly scolded me.
“Take your pile of junk and get out!”
I nodded calmly, “Okay.”
I turned around and agreed to the blind date set up by my family.
“Madalyn, I agreed to get married and go back home.”
Madalyn on the other end of the phone heard my words and immediately burst into a delighted laughter,
“Finally, you’re willing to leave your boyfriend?! I have been saying it for a long time, you two are not a good match, it was never gonna work out.”
“Moreover, over the years, he never even agreed to make it official on Instagram
Madalyn’s words were like a dull then.
Gently pierced into the depths of my heart. Turns our, the onlookers had seen it all so clearly, while I was too blind to realize.
I took a deep breath and forced a casual smile.
“Madelyn, didn’t you say you would be back in Linden after your business trip in seven days? Then I will go back in seven days too, and you can arrange for me to meet that person.”
I hung up the phone, and suddenly there was an extra figure behind me.
Adrian silently approached me and picked up the new ceramic cup from the cabinet across from me, raising an eyebrow as he asked me
“See who? Who do you want to see?”
Blind date. The words were on the tip of my tongue, but in the end, I didn’t say them out.
I shook my head expressionlessly and said, “It’s nothing, just a friend.”
My A
gaze fell on the brand–new ceramic cup in his hand as I looked up at him.
“How come you decided to use it?”
The ceramic cup in his hand was a pair of couple cups. When I gave him this gift on the Valentine’s Day, Adrian said he liked it very much, but then he put it away in the cabinet and left it there.
I asked him why he didn’t use it.
He smiled and hugged me from behind.
“Silly fool, we need to keep a pair for use when we get married.”
I felt like I was wrapped in honey at that time.
He had envisioned our future and imagined the day we got married.
But later, 1 accidentally came across Allisson’s Instagram.
Thound out that it was Allison who liked that ceramic cup
The person Adrian had in mind for those cups at the wedding wasn’t even me.
Now, seeing me staring at the cup in his hand, Adrian casually explained, “Allisson doesn’t have a cup to drink water. So, I brought her this one, and she happened to like it.”

The idea of getting married was long forgotten by him.
I swallowed the bitterness and thought to myself, “Anyway, we didn’t have a future together.”
And then, I nodded.
“Hurry up and go, don’t keep her waiting.”
Adrian didn’t expect me to be so gen
generous, his eyes showed a hint of surprise.
Finally, he approached and gently rubbed my head, his tone unusually soft
“Wait for me to come back.”
I was burying my head in the study, writing a resignation letter, when suddenly the door was pushed open.
There was no one behind Adrian.
He shed his exhaustion, took off his coat, and came over to hug me
“Kathleen.”
I instinctively turned off the computer and moved away from him a little.
What ab
about Ms. Chapman?” “Alisson is in the hospital today. The doctor said they need to observe her a little longer.”
I stared at him, his face filled with exhaustion, clearly worn out because of Allisson’s matter.
When Allisson was back, she immediately called Adrian as soon as she got off the plane.
Upon learning that she had become blind, Adrian ran towards her as if he had gone mad.
He didn’t even ask for my opinion and just brought her home.
At first, I didn’t know that Allisson was his first love. I suggested that she stay in a hotel, as there was no one to take care of her, and we could hire a
caregiver.
Adrian didn’t even think about it, he frowned and argued with me.
“Kathleen, I am not comfortable with someone else taking care of me, so let Allisson stay at our house for a while.”
“Before she went abroad, she was my best friend. I promised her that I would take good care of her.”
Taking care of a friend is no big deal
But Adrian’s behavior was really strange. It wasn’t until one day when he went downstairs to buy something that Allisson approached me with a smile.
“Kathleen, are you curious about my relationship with Adrian?”
“In fact, I was his first love.”
“I heard that after we brokk up, he had several girlfriends, all of them were like me.”
“Kathleen, even though I couldn’t see, I knew we must’ve looked really similar, right?”
When I heard that, I just froze.
She was right.
We looked about half alike.
That day, I took her downstairs for a walk, and someone asked us if we were sisters.
I just found out
I was just a substitute in a six–year relationship
