Chapter 16
Suddenly, Daphne was part of Galaxy Entertainment. The employees were just like outsiders, buzzing with gossip about her divorce–full of doubts and wild stories.
At this point, explanations wouldn’t do much good. Only impressive results would shut them up. Daphne closed the project book and called the CEO’s office directly.
Zachary picked up right away, clearly concerned about the new vice CEO. “Hi, Daphise. What can I help you with?” he asked, his tone warm.
Daphne smiled politely. “Mr. Lopez, I have a few questions”
“Feel free to ask anything. Zachary replied. “I promise to be completely honest.”
“Okay, I’ll get straight to the point, Mr. Lopez Daphne smiled slightly. Her hand rested on a stack of project proposals, casually flipping through them, the pages rustling softly. “I’m really interested in some projects left behind by Henry…”
She let her sentence trail off, but anyone with a sharp mind could catch her drift. Zachary didn’t expect her to bring this up on her first day, and he was momentarily stunned before asking, “Have you seen those project proposals?”
“Haven’t I asked Zoe to get rid of all those documents?” he thought, feeling confused.
“I stopped them just before they were about to be shredded, Daphne said, her fingers lightly tapping on the desk, creating a soft rhythm. “I noticed quite a few promising ideas in there that could really boost our company’s reputation.”
Zachary smiled wryly. Tve looked over those p
projects too. There are definitely some good ones. But, you know the board isn’t keen on taking risks,
Most of those ideas came from new directors or creative editors with imaginative concepts–things that didn’t even exist in the entertainment world yet. Since no one had taken a chance on them, they remained unexplored territory
Making a movie–from hiring to filming could easily cost tens of millions. No one knew if it was going to be a huge success or a complete flop.
The veterans at Galaxy were hesitant to take risks; they preferred following the tried and true path that ensured steady gains.
Daphne laughed lightly and said, “Without risk, where’s the reward?”
Zachary let out a bitter sigh and advised, “You’ve just started. It might be better to understand how things work around here first. These discussions Can Wat
“If you want to dive into some projects, maybe start with the ones that are already approved–there’s no way you can go wrong with those”
He was giving Daphine a friendly heads–up, hinting that she should tread lightly when it came to challenging the board on her first day.
It was impressive for her to show what she was capable of, but she needed to be bareful not to overstep; otherwise, she might not last long in her
new role.
Bat he underestimated Daphne and her connections. She smirked, “Somebody has to be the first to try something new, right?”
Whether it was Daphne’s confidence or Zachary’s own urge to shake things up, he paused before asking, “So, do you have a plan to get the board on board with those projects?”
Daphne had flown in that morning and was personally brought in by Philip Zachary thought she must have some serious confidence to say something like that.
With full assurance, Daphne replied, “I have my methods. You just need to trust me
Zachary, the CEO who ran the whole company, definitely had a sharp strategic vision–But the old–timers in the boardroom held him back, leaving him stuck just maintaining appearances without making any bold moves.
Now that Daphne was stepping up as a determined leader, he had no reason to say no,
After all, he had thought Daphine would be a figurebeail at best. Even if she didn’t accomplish anything huge, as long as she could handle the higher–ups, that would sull be a win.
But he never expected that Daphne was genuinely aiming to make a significant change; like the for
the former CEO, she was set on reforming Galaxy
After thinking it through, he finally agreed, “Go for it” The worst that could happen was losing a new vice CEO, which wouldn’t personally affect hum II Daphne made it, he could still claim credit for Galaxy’s turnaround
With their thoughts aligned, the two of them mude a firm decision right then and there.

After hanging up. Zachary looked out at the bright blue sky, his mind racing. As CEO, he had wanted the company to thrive, but could only be a puppet of the board, with no real power and always worried about losing his job.
After a moment, he sighed, “I hope Ms. Shaw knows what she’s doing. If she didn’t, even with Philip’s backing, the board wouldn’t let a woman take charge, and she’d end up like Henry–gracefully stepping down.
The work hours flew by faster than expected. Daphne stretched and organized the contracts she had reviewed on her desk. Turning to the window, she noticed it had already gotten dark outside. She let out a breath and checked her watch–it was past severt.

As night fell, the city lit up with colorful neon signs. This should’ve been Daphne’s relaxing time, but she had to head back to the deal with Mason, Hannah, and Yvonne. She had no choice, Mason was holding onto something belonging to Yolanda.
Getting up, Daphne gathered her things, grabbed her bag, and headed out of the vice CLO’s office. Just outside, Zoe was buried in paperwork, focused and working hard.
“Still at it” Daphne asked.
Zor looked up and quickly stood up. “Ms. Shaw, I still have a report to finish, but I’ll wrap it up soon.
Daphine glanced at the report and saw it was about Galaxy’s past movie releases. Most of them had terrible reviews and box office returns,
“Out of sight, out of mind, she thought to herself and looked away, saying, “You can finish that tomorrow, Let’s call it a day”
Zoe nodded, starting to tidy up her desk. “Are you heading out now?”
Үер,
I’m done for today, Daphne replied.
Thinking Daphne wasn’t as unapproachable as she seemed, Zoe asked, “someone picking you up, or are you driving home yourself?
Speaking of which, she remembered the big scene Philip had made that morning. She quickly smacked her forehead and added, “Ms. Shaw, don’t get me wrong. I just meant to ask how you’re getting home.”
Daphne let out a helpless laugh and said nonchalantly, “It’s fine?
