Chapter 5
“Ah!”
In an instant, Victor was covered in fondue soup base, his fair arms instantly turning red and covered in blisters. The burning pain felt like thousands of needles piercing his entire body, rendering him unable to utter a single word.
“Victor!”
Kaleigh quickly let go of Dorian and walked towards him, for the first time showing a hint of panic in her eyes. “Does it hurt? I’ll accompany you to the hospital!”
He raised his eyes and looked at her, pain spreading throughout his body, but he couldn’t manage to say a word no matter how hard he tried.
“Oh my goodness, Dorian, how did you get so badly injured!”
As soon as Kaleigh heard it, her attention immediately shifted to Dorian. She rushed in a more panicked manner towards Dorian, only to see a few drops of fondue oil on his arm. It indeed looked particularly “heart–stopping“.
Dorian withdrew his arm and shook his head, his eyes reddened.
“I’m fine, Mr. Walton looks worse, you should take him to the hospital first.”
“What’s the big deal? You’ve been pampered since childhood, even a small scratch would hurt for a whole day. Sister, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and take Dorian to the hospital!”
Gabriela stomped her foot in frustration and extended her hand to warn the group of people, “Are you all crazy? If you want to argue, take it outside. If you hurt Dorian, my sister won’t let you off the hook!”
Now, Dorian couldn’t bear the pain any longer and cried out softly, but still insisted, “It’s alright, Kaleigh. You should go and check on Mr. Walton, he’s more seriously injured.”
This appearance undoubtedly caused her heart to ache. He no longer cared about the disheveled Victor and picked up Dorian in his arms, walking out.
Before leaving, Victor, with a guilty expression on his face, seemed to have just remembered something
“Dorian has always had sensitive skin and a fear of pain since he was young. The hospital is not far from here, so you can take a taxi to the hospital yourself.”

It was not until the three of them disappeared from his sight that Victor came back to his senses, enduring the pain while taking in a deep breath.
Seeing him injured so badly and being abandoned, the nearby waiter quickly sympathetically approached him, apologizing while urgently treating the wounds on his body.
After taking the painkiller, the pain in his body finally eased a bit, at least to the point where he could speak without being in so much pain.
After borrowing a set of clothes from the waiter and changing into them, I walked out tremblingly and hailed a taxi to rush to the hospital.
The doctor held a cotton swab and pressed down on the blistered areas while instructing him to apply medicine every day, so as not to leave scars.
Victor clenched his eyes tightly in pain, while two nurses pushed a cart past him.
“If you ask me, Ms. McCann was really kind to Mr. Madden. She even rented the entire floor after just a few drops of fondue oil splattered, and had all the dermatology experts come for a consultation.”
“Yeah, his small wound would have almost healed if he had come a bit later. If only I could have a caring woman who likes me too.”
“Hahaha, don’t even think about it, this kind of woman is a once–in–a–lifetime encounter.”
Once in a blue moon?
Victor smiled.
Leaving his severely injured wife behind, he turned to take care of others with minor injuries, which was indeed a rare occurrence in a thousand years.
He didn’t leave until all the wounds on his body were bandaged, and then he got up and left after thanking the doctor.
Just as I walked out of the hospital gate, a message popped up on my phone.
Opening it up, he found it was an admission notice from a school he had applied to abroad, reminding him to prepare a portfolio for enrollment when he reports to the school.
Five years later, Victor picked up the paintbrush again.
After buying the paintbrushes and fuel, Victor did not return to the McCann family, but went to

Moon Mountain.
The scenery of Moon Mountain was beautiful. The tranquil lake lay nestled among the mountains, its water calm like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding peaks, resembling a natural painting.
It made people feel relaxed and refreshed.
He let out a long breath, and the five years of oppression instantly vanished, leaving only the long–lost freedom.
With inspiration in mind, the brush touched the pristine white paper, and in the blink of an eye, a beautiful scene quietly emerged on the paper.
There was no noise, no dust, only the sound of birds chirping and a gentle breeze blowing through the mountains.
For three whole days, he was immersed in this beautiful scenery.
Victor didn’t open his phone until he went down the mountain to send the painting to the school.
The moment the computer was turned on, countless missed calls and text messages all popped up, filling the screen.
All of it came from Kaleigh alone.
This had never happened before.
In the past, only he would call or text her. She would never call him, not even returning missed calls.
Just as he was dazed, Gabriela’s phone rang, and as soon as he answered it, a piercing sound came from the other end.
“Victor, where have you been all these days? Do you know that my sister has been going crazy looking for you! Don’t think that this will get my sister’s attention, you’re dreaming. The position of the head of the McCann family can only be Dorian!”
After scolding, Gabriela hung up the phone.
Only Victor frowned.
Did he hear it wrong?
Was Kaleigh looking for him like crazy? Why?
He had intended to ask Gabriela if she had made a mistake, but the 108 missed calls on his phone

clearly showed Kaleigh’s urgency in trying to reach him.
