I clenched my fists tightly, my heart aching.

The sympathetic parents gasped in shock.
This wasn’t just roughhousing. It was pure malice.
What kind of child would act like that and say such cruel things? Their parents must have taught them that.
All the parents sympathized with me in that moment. They called for severe punishment for the parents of those kids.
“They need to be expelled from elementary school!”
“Yes, or our kids will be next!”
“Get them out of here!”
But Samuel, Rachel, and the parents of the bullies shrugged it off. Kids will be kids, right?
Samuel shouted:
“Why are you all making a fuss? Isn’t it normal for kids to play rough? Why are you butting in?!”
“I’m Lily’s real father. If I’m not upset or pressing charges, what business do you have here?!”
I glared at him:
“Samuel, Lily is your daughter too. Don’t you feel anything seeing her bullied like this?”
“Didn’t you hear her begging for her daddy to protect her?!”
“Do you seriously have no conscience left?!”
“Lily is your own flesh and blood!”
Samuel seemed a bit guilty under my gaze, but still insisted:
“She just got a little hurt, she’s fine now! Why are you overreacting?!”
Before I could respond, the other parents couldn’t take it anymore.
“What kind of father talks like that? Even if you’re worried about your other kid, how can you disregard your own daughter?”
“This poor child is so young, how sad to have such a cold-hearted dad!”
“He’s a beast in human form!”
“Worse than a beast!”
Samuel lost his cool from the insults and glared at everyone.
Then he turned to leave.
Just then, the police showed up.
I handed them the video and Lily’s injury report.
The police spoke firmly: “The parents involved will need to come with us.”
Only then did they start to panic. But it was too late.
The kids were minors, but their guardians were still responsible.
After that day, Lily started to heal, and I took legal action against everyone who hurt her.
I told Lily, “Sweetheart, Mommy will protect you and get justice.”
She seemed to understand, snuggling into my arms, calling out “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy” in her sweet voice.
Faced with hefty compensation demands, those parents came begging at my door, wanting to settle.
Some brought their children and punished them harshly in front of my house:
