To Wendel, this meant that is had forgiven him.E
It meant he still had a chance to make things right.!!
But Ins said nothing. She simply put down her textbook, turned around, and walked into the exam hall
Wendel instinctively tried to follow her, but a security guard blocked his way.
“This is an exam hall. Are you a student? What do you think you’re doing?”
Wendel froze. He glanced down at his filthy clothes, suddenly jolted awake by reality”
A few years ago, he was a college student admired by everyone, but now he had become the kind of person even he despised.
On the other hand, Iris was on her way to becoming a successful, independent woman–wealthy, accomplished, and free.
And him? He had thrown away his own future for the sake of love, letting his emotions cloud his judgment.
They should have been happy together
So how had things come to this?
With a bitter smile, Wendel tumed and walked away, his heart heavy with regret
The exam went more smoothly than Iris had expected.
When she stepped out of the hall, the sky was bright and cloudless, the sun shining warmly overhead.
She tilted her head up and, for the first time in a long while, smiled–a genuine, heartfelt smile.
But her good mood didn’t last long.
In the distance, she spotted Wendel
The moment he saw her, he ran up excitedly. “How was it? Did the exam go well?” he asked with concern.
Iris avoided his gaze, sidestepping him. She saw the disappointment flash in his eyes.
Unfazed, she intoned coldly, “Tm exhausted. I just want to go home. My dad’s coming to pick me up soon. If he sees you, he won’t let you off easily,”
her.
As if on cue, her father’s car pulled up nearby
Without giving Wendel another glance, Iris tumed and walked toward the cat
Wendel didn’t dare follow. He could only stand there and watch her leave.
A crushing sense of powerlessness washed over him.
For the first time, he truly felt it–this time, he might really lose Iris forever.
But he still wasn’t willing to give up.

In the days that followed, Wendel lingered near Iris‘ home whenever he had free time, hoping to catch even the smallest glimpse of
Just one glance. That was all he needed.
But no matter how long he waited, she never appeared.
Then, he remembered something she had once told him.
“When fate between two people runs out, they will never meet again.“B
He had never believed in such things.
What he didn’t know was that Iris was well aware of his presence–Margaret had told her.
But she was too busy to care.
She was focused on improving her British English, spending every day practicing with her tutor
She had no time to go out.
And even if she did, she didn’t want to.
That evening, after her tutor left, her father returned home with a questi
Iris looked up and recognized him–it was the police chief she had met once before
They sat down and started chatting, and soon the conversation turned to a recent baby kidnapping case in the area.
The missing child’s father was the owner of a paper factory–a wealthy man who had only one precious son.
But in a moment of carelessness, the baby had been taken.k
The family was devastated.
Iris felt an electric jolt running through her body.
She instantly thought of the baby in Esther’s arms–the one that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
She quickly asked, “How old was the baby when he went missing?”

Six months ago, the child in Esther’s arms had also been wrapped in a swaddle.
Could it have been Esther?
