Chapter 14
Upon hearing Chloe’s voice, Ryan immediately darkened his expression.
“What do you want?”
His tone was cold, as if he was ready to hang up the phone at any moment.
“I’m here. Tessa isn’t home, so I can’t come?”
Ryan had already known about Chloe’s fallout with the Bloodmoon Pack.
He understood exactly what she was here for–to seek refuge with him.
He should have felt pity for her. After all, he had once hoped she would secure her position in the pack, even if it meant hurting Tessa, his fated mate.
But when he saw the news of Chloe being kicked out, he surprisingly felt a sense of relief.
He had always been in love with Tessa, but it was a love she could never accept.
“I don’t want this. This is Tessa and my home. Please leave.”
Chloe was stunned by the rejection. She had never been turned away by Ryan before.
He had always listened to her, always willing to do anything to take care of her.
“What are you saying? Didn’t you love me more than anything?”
That statement cut through Ryan like a knife.
He squeezed his eyes shut, his patience wearing thin.
“I don’t love you. I’ve always loved your sister. She is my mate!”
Chloe couldn’t believe it. If he truly loved Tessa, then how could he have stayed by her side so many times in secret, laughing and spending time with her?
“Stop lying to yourself! You’ve forgotten the nights you chose to be with me, abandoning her. Your heart is with me!“.
“Don’t think just because Tessa is gone now, that you love her! You don’t!”
Her words came faster, more desperate, each one reminding Ryan of his own sins.
Ryan’s patience snapped, his wolf growling low and menacing.
“I told you, when I was with you, I was just having fun! I was obsessed with that feeling! I’m sorry for what I did to Tessa, but I love her!”

“And I never thought about having a future with you!”
“Stop bothering me!”
He knew what he had done to Tessa. He would never forget it. It had been half a month since she left, and everything had changed.
He hadn’t left the house for days, probably out of fear of the scorn he might face.
But he knew this was Tessa’s punishment for him, and he accepted it. All he could hope for now was for Tessa to return to him.
Ryan blocked Chloe’s number, and it felt like a weight had been lifted.
A few moments later, his phone rang again. This time, it was his mother.
As always, she wasn’t calling to scold him for being useless or not living up to his older brother. Instead, she was urging him to attend Alpha events.
But Ryan couldn’t bring himself to care.
He answered the phone, his expression unreadable.
“What’s going on?”
“Prepare for your mating ceremony with Chloe.”
Ryan froze, incredulous.
“Why?”
On the other end of the line, Olivia let out a cold laugh, full of sarcasm and frustration.
“Why? Don’t you know you’ve gotten her pregnant? Do you want me to clean up your mess too?”
