Part Ten: A Desperate Prayer
The following morning, Vera was thrown into the dungeon. The soldiers. placed her scent to the scene of the murder and burning of the wolves.
Collins got a report from the soldiers that Vera was there at the scene of the attack, he showed no mercy. Squeezing her till every drop of detail had left her mouth. The night came faster than he expected but it was not a hindrance, until he got the truth. The other soldiers who had been neck deep in analysing the crime had gotten to the root of the attack and they had all the information. they needed.
The following morning, Collins had succeeded in extracting every detail Vera had about the attack; he stepped out of the room only to find the alpha by the door looking like a wolf ready to hunt.
“Tell me Collins, did she tell you what really happened?”
Collins was reluctant, he knew he had to choose his words carefully.
“Alpha, we don’t need to rush to any conclusions yet. It’s a personal case so I have to handle it with care. Until every last detail is gotten, I can’t just spill what I have out”
The soldiers walked in and out of the dungeon, but Sloane remained at the gate. He stood there, his face tensed. He did not know if he should be sad or disappointed. Something kept telling him that the truth was not far fetched and yet he had no clue what it was.
For a moment, I wished I could just tell Sloane that it was a maze and the road had not been seen.
Some days later, the whole situation was exposed. Just like Sloane had thought, the rogues behind my terrible demise were the wolves who were banished from Crimson pack for the murder of their Alpha.
As it would be discovered, Vera had some shady deals with them and refused to pay for their services. But I was not aware. Vera invited me over for brunch, claiming she wanted to apologise to me and make friends with me. Little did I know she had already told the rogue wolves that I was the one. responsible for her not being able to settle them. She had kept an envelope filled with money in my car and I was unaware. I drove home, while Vera made sure to spend the night with Sloane.
As I drove back home, I noticed a red sedan following me closely. All my attempts to lose him failed and in no time they ran ahead of me, blocking me

in the tunnel. They bashed my car, dragged me out and pointed a gun to my head.
They checked all my belongings and soon found a brown envelope in the pigeon hole of my car. They opened it and discovered a lot money inside.
“You thief. So it’s true you stole our pay?” One of the men yelled at me but I just stirred at him cluelessly. What the hell was he talking about?
They began to punch and kick me in the stomach. Hitting my head with the tip of their gun. I yelled out in pain, wincing until I could no longer take it and I transformed into my wolf, trying to escape. But they were also wolves, and in no time they chased after me in their wolf forms and began to tear me apart. They tore through my fur and in the heat of the moment was when I mind linked Sloane and he just turned me down.
“Quit been dramatic, I am spending the night out” was his response
I know he was out having the time of his life with Vera, kissing and probably laughing like they had the whole world at their fingertips.
As the rogues began to gather wood and lit the fire, I still prayed to the moon goddess for help, anything but death at this time was ok.
Now all I remember was the fact that Sloane deliberately ignored my cry. for help because he was busy making it up to Vera for all the time they spent apart. But unknown to him, he was making the woman who had his wife killed happy.
