In the days that followed, life got busy. I stopped hearing much about Roderick and Francesca.
According to the media, Francesca was sentenced to life in prison. It was the ending she deserved.
Later, Roderick came to see me again. “Sav, I know I went too far back then. The truth is, I just couldn’t accept it at the time.”

“Stop. That’s enough,” I cut him off. “Roderick, I should be thanking you for what you did. If it hadn’t happened, I never would’ve seen your true colors.
“You didn’t love Francesca, and you didn’t love me either. The only person you’ve ever cared about is yourself.
“You wasted six years of a woman’s life just to keep your company afloat. So tell me, why do you want me back now?”
Roderick’s lips parted slightly, but no words came. All I could see was regret.
“I just wanted to make things right-” he began.
“Don’t bother. It’s too late. What’s done is done. I don’t care anymore.”
With that, he left, looking utterly heartbroken.
